Actually the second photo seems to have signs of moire. I don't remember ever encountering this in the 6 years that I have had cameras without AA filters. Amazing resolution for a consumer lens.

I feel the same way.
Sometimes they follow me when I am grubbing out weeds - looking for prey. You might see them in picnic areas in parks and reserves, often perched sideways on a tree. But while they are friendly, it is always on their terms. Yellow robins always seem focused, literally and metaphorically. They are the first to call in the morning (their genus, Eopsaltria, means "dawn harpist") and the last in the evening.
