Humber Bay East. There was a Canvasback and a King Eider as well but not close enough.

Trying out a Siggy 500/4.5 wide open on the Pentax K-1... on the birds around the feeders. Not easy to nail it close the focus at the right place close to the minimal focusing distance, but when you do, it's rewarding!
(must be seen full screen!)

So far has been posting birdie in clean background, I have lots of them due to very frequent shooting during the 1st few years of birding. Sometimes I spent hours to wait for birds to perch on clean background and eventually I got them. I usually will process these pics first and those non-clean background rare birds or lifer later.

One of the rare birds - Feruginous Partridge shot with K5 + DA*300
These birds don't perch on branches and they moved very quickly on the ground looking for food, many times they will be blocked by branches and leaves, spent few hours just to snap a few shots... I only managed to have 2 shots of the pair in frame and I've never process this shot before until recently uploaded to flickr

One of the most colourful bird in Malaysia - Silver-eared Mesia
shot with K5 + Sigma 500/4.5

White-rumped Shama (juvenile) shot with K5 + Sigma 500/4.5

sidenote - these pics are less favorited in flickr than those birds with nice clean background, could be few times lesser.
Great shots. Love those birds.
The shama is a lovely singer.

Very nice at f4.5. I guess you are the one who got the lens from Mike.

The lens is throwing up some funny bokeh in the cardinal shot.
Yeah, the seed shells are covering the ground there and there are some odd geometrics.

Good work with the focus, and good detail by the Siggy.

I'm thinking it's Topaz Sharpen AI... I've used it, and it definitely is prone to weirdness in specific situations.

How the devil did you take such great shots of these birds in flight?? These birds have been a favourite of mine since I first saw them in Papua New Guinea late 1960s, 1970s. When I returned to Australia early 1980s and chose Brisbane instead of Melbourne (where I came from) I was inordinately pleased to be woken up one spring morning by a familiar trilling noise, and there, sure enough, 40 or 50 rainbow bee-eaters all in a row on the powerline across the road from my bedroom!!

Sadly they have been absent the last two years or so. Their wings have this beautiful translucent bronze when they fly with the sun behind them.

A chance to see wolves without actually setting up blinds and stalking them tends to be a once in a life time experience. This from my once.

Beautiful, normhead. I can totally understand turning this into a 20x30 print.
