Guaranteed! I've had both. Wonderful lenses! I did shoot the 400/2.8 with a monopod from time to time but the 600/4 was tripod all the way.

I do miss my A* 600mm f/5.6 although I was too slow trying to manual focus. I think I should be saving up for the DA 560.

Thanks Rod.
They make good subjects, and after a couple of visits they are not so flighty.
I keep forgetting to switch on the anti-aliasing filter, these blokes have such fine feathers.

Cheers,
Terry

Female bufflehead, adorable tiny duck.

On the one hand, these are the best yet I've managed. OTOH, these are still extremely heavy crops, as she stayed 30-40 yards away from me.

Yeah. 1024 x 639 pixels is a HEAVY crop.
But there is obviously nothing wrong with the K3ii and the Tamron 400. (or the photographer either, for that matter.)
Lovely images. and I love the light on the water.

Thanks! I cropped the images down to around 1500px on the long side, then resized for posting. The Tammy is a very fine lens, too bad the photographer couldn't figure out a way to get closer to his subject without spooking her.

The light was lovely, as was the weather overall - 45° F, very slight wind. It was an enjoyable hour or so I spent shooting, except for my left knee feeling creaky from squatting.

At the same shoot, a photo of this big beautiful creature required no cropping ...

I misread it too, made me look at the weather history in NJ to discover the lowest ever was in 1904 at -37
