The expression on the owl is marvellous.

PS I was in a certain college in your area from 1957 to 1960

Yesterday's trip to the lake featured freezing temps and wind gusts so strong I was nearly toppled from the tree stump I settled myself on. Light was as bright as one could hope for. I lasted less than an hour

Great Shot!!! As Canada_Rockies said, wonderful capture of the owl's expression. Even just getting to see this sight would be a great experience, let alone capturing an image as a memento of the event.

You must have made like Tiny Tim "Tip-Toeing through the Tulips" to get into position for that shot!!

Thanks !
Yes I did a prudent approach, a couple steps, a couple shots, and so on... but he didn't bother much, until I was closer... maybe 30 feet / 10 meters. Eventhere it looked to me and head got back on back's fether to continue its rest... I stopped and walked back at that point. I had enought shots I figured out.

Btw for those looking for a good all weather camo suit, I did used that today for the first time, and I recommend it !

Now that the snow and ice and 6 degree weather are gone and the water and electricity are back on, more backyard images with the DFA 150-450. My wood burning stove kept the place warm, I cooked in the garage with my Coleman stove and used my 250 gal rainwater storage for most things. Plus I have 2 generators but only ran one as I did not have enough gas!!! The Texas big freeze storm was bad for many but I was mostly prepared. I did go thru 40 lbs of bird seed in 2 days, never have I seen so many birds in the yard. I had to go out and toss seed on the ground as the 3 bird feeders were like a free for all, way too many hungry birds and not enough perches. The seed on the ground spread them out and minimized the chaos...When the sun finally came out, 2 immature bald eagle's flew over, heading south for warmer weather...
