Ma meilleure photo jusqu'à maintenant de cet oiseau difficile d'approche ! Il a fallut sortir la chaloupe pour s'en approcher.
==========
My best photo so far of this challenging bird to approach! I had get out with my boat to get closer.

It is a very good "best" - a great image. He looks like he is using some sort of gel for his spiky "hair-do"! This is an appealing photograph.

thanks !
Well, actually, I saw him flying around and jumping in the water in a couple occasions... he wasn't fishing, I think he was taking some sort of a bath, and then went on that branch, and started cleaning his feathers or "preening"...
that's maybe because of that he accepted me getting closer and closer without spooking him... and it's not the first time I am able to approach a bird better while he's preening (this is a new word for me, taken from the link below)

If "preen" is a new word for you, you might also check "primp" if it is unfamiliar, as it has a very similar meaning, although "primp" is essentially never applied to birds. When I was young, when very very few people thought about "politically correct" or insulting speech, sometimes a female preparing herself for a night out might be described as "primping and preening." Such a comment might now be considered an insult, or condescending by males.

Thanks for the info WPRESTO!
I don't think I am going to try that new word, or the other one for human
at least not yet, until I understand it's complete scope

A few very early morning shots.
K-3ii/FA*600mm F4 ED [IF]. This Barn Owl landed on a post on the left hand side of my car [ right hand drive], so I had to climb across the front seats and handhold out of the passenger window.

Part of Salisbury plain impact area on fire after heavy shelling.

K-5/Sigma 800mm F5.6 APO EX/ RRS BH-55/Kirk window mount.

Ho Wow! That Barn Owl!
They are very rare in our latitudes, but one have been seen in my city this winter... Unfortunately, I wasn't able to see it before it left... I am still dreaming to capture this wonderful owl in photos!
