Nice shot Terry! Love these birds. A Melbourne friend of mine and myself had the pleasure of shooting a couple of these in Coburg about 18 months ago: here is a resurrection cross-post:

KP with 55-300mm PLM, tripod mounted, using cable release.

Ho Wow! That Barn Owl!
They are very rare in our latitudes, but one have been seen in my city this winter... Unfortunately, I wasn't able to see it before it left... I am still dreaming to capture this wonderful owl in photos!

Do we call that "Car hot yoga?"
Quite a struggle getting from one side of the car to the other without opening the door and while carrying a heavy lens/camera. I need to clean a few boot prints off the dash.

Why you need 150-450? This is quite stunning already.

Weather sealing, more responsive AF... The Sigma is capable, but as I've posted in other threads, I have a habit of getting "into it" with bad weather etc and I was doused pretty heavily during this bird outing and it created anxiety I'd rather do without.

Rusty Blackbird on its way north to the boreal forest - declining in numbers so nice to see. Also pleased yet again to see what I could pull out of a quick shot from a distance before the bird flew away. Maybe I don't need that K-3 III after all (though things seem to be headed in that direction - can't let a birthday go to waste!).

If the wildlife won't cooperate, I guess you have to just photograph the dog... I really like the snow falling in this one, I didn't actually notice it until I was back at my computer

It has your name on it Steven. The first impressions video by Mike Muizebelt (https://www.mikemuizebelt.nl/pentax-k-3-mark-iii-review/) at about 6:00 minutes in shows a very impressive sequence of a kitesurfer with the DA*300 + 1.4 TC, demonstrating how well the AF works with that combination.

Thanks Des and Swip - hope I will be able to do it justice!
When I got the K-3 I had the benefit of Yvon Bourque's ebook. It will take me longer to explore the capabilities of the K-3 III.

Nikon 600mm f5.6 EDIF on Olympus EM10-II. Actually, the camera is on the lens. Cropped to less than 1/4 the original area. This old lens has remarkably good IQ, if you hit the focus right.
