These are super nice; the eyes on owls never cease to amaze me. Great capture. Cross-posted from the astro-thread: here's an image of Bode's galaxy and some of its friends taken with the M300/4* lens at f/4.7 (the first half stop closed). I'm amazed by the performance of that old lens.

May I ask how you created this image, e.g. with a mount, or astrotracer, and what kind of shutter speed?
I'd love to do astrophotography as well one day another reason why I want to upgrade to the K-3 II in the long game.
So far my attempts with image stitching have not been very pleasant to look at

Lovely shots

We have a Pell's fishing owl in Southern Africa that looks quite similar, but they are extremely rare
I check from google, the Pel's fishing owl look like more similar to another type of our local resident, the Spotted wood owl.

Taken with my K70 and DA300 F4 April 2018. I'm taking it during the nesting period too.

Looking at the owlet, it's adorable..

Thanks Lowell - it's a busy little spot to be sure! It's a shame about those metal hoops, not sure why they are there. I suppose some people might have edited them out.
It seems beavers like the platform too

Well then, I'll throw in my Snowy and my Canvasback as well (peviously posted). The distance is a bit of a stretch for my DA*300mm + 1.4xTC (on the K-3)

The metal hoops have been changed, but it's the same raft.

I too have a canvasback shot on the platform, I wonder how many different subjects we can find have occupied it. Maybe that should be the start of a new thread “same house - different occupants”

I was wondering about the hoops, and thinking it might be to prevent predators from going after eggs or chicks, although they didn’t seem to deter the snowy

Those hoops wouldn't be any problem for a mink, which live in the park and would be a major predator.

For the last few weeks we've had a slow leak from the waterline serving a few of the apartments including mine. Water has puddled, and now acts as a small guzzler for the birds. I've had chances to capture some birds that were previously difficult to photo due to infrequent and short visits. They're coming around frequently and hanging around longer now. That'll end whenever a work crew shows up to repair the waterline.

Rufous-winged Sparrows are in the tree off and on all day, and have been bathing in the puddles. K-1 + DA*300, cropped.

We saw silvereyes out on Heron Island, but the birds there are now regarded as a different species from the mainland population. Vario-Elmar 100~400mm @ 400mm.

A few weeks ago I went to the park during the birds siesta time, got a little bored and may have spent some time scattering 30 or 40 'apples' around.
