Pacific Golden Plover in breeding plumage mode.

Same bird that was taken previously around end of Jan. It's confirmed that the ID as Pacific golden plower was correct under breeding plumage. A bit confusing between the American VS the Pacific golden plover previously, but was told so far there's no any sighting of the American at here yet.

Those are all very nice shots indeed, jacamar. It is probably too early for this question, but just a quick assessment: how do you like the feel of working with the K3 iii? What were you shoot with before, and quick preference?

Do you wear a bear bell (aka a cowbell)? When traipsing about the trails and paths on Vancouver Island it was a habit, but it does mean you don't see much wild life. Good way to keep the dog out of trouble too.
My favourite bear bells joke is that you can tell grizzly scat from black bear scat: grizzly scat has bear bells in it.

Here's another photo taken the same day at the same pool. This time a lapwing. The photo was taken with the same combo: KP + DA * 300mm + HD DA 1.4x TC, handheld.

Waiting for my K3III to arrive.... so playing with the KP on my DFA 150-450 to get in the crop mood after using a K1 on this lens for the last 4 or so years.

Looks to me like a Ruff - small head, short bill, yellow legs, unusual colouring. The colour varies - I saw a white one at a distance last time I was in UK and was trying to figure out what kind of gull it was.

A few notables at the park today. This Green Heron caught and swallowed down a fish (pumpkinseed I think) right in front of us.

Also a good view of a Blue-winged Teal:

After taking the Teal shots I checked my email and found that my new K-3 III had arrived and was waiting for pickup. I restrained myself and we checked out the Grebe raft before calling at the camera store on the way home. The grebes (which now have three eggs) were having some trouble with an unusually strong wind out of the north.

The conditions for all of these shots were a bit marginal in terms of low light and / or distance, and I 'm hoping the new camera will give me a bit more latitude.
I think they were great shots
I've never heard about a bird building their nest on a raft before, but it seems like an incredible trick of nature.
Congratulations on getting a K-3 iii! It seems to be one of the very best modern DSLR's. May it serve you well!
I'm hoping to upgrade to a K-3 ii within this year, it would be a huge step-up from my K10D.
