Turns out a family of western screech owls lives in my friend's pecan tree down the street. Didn't have to wait long for another chance to get more owl shots!

K1ii + DA*300mm. B&W w/ tripod, others handheld.

That's a great series, I just love the eyes!

Petit-duc maculé / Eastern Screech Owl [Megascops asio]
Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Québec, CANADA
2021.05.31

Un des deux avant-derniers à être sortis du nichoir. Ils se trouvent dans les arbres environnants et restent tranquille pendant le jour.
One of the 2 second to last that have quit the cabin. They rest all days in lower trees not far from the house.

Me too! Their eyes are so expressive. Owl pics would make great candidates for caption contests.

The two bird shots are very good, but the two macros are more than just very good. The dragonfly - skimmer - in particular is very sharp.

Thank you K2 to K50 - I have found the focusing can be variable with this camera but I'm pleased with these shots as well. There are other factors involved in focusing - the side light was a bit harsh for the Snipe.

Red bearded skink on my garage wall. K3-iii with DA* 300 and Pentax 1.4x TC.

The 5 line skinks are more common around my place. And a little more skittish. There were a couple them out but they scurried into the shadows at my approach.
