FA 100-300mm f4.5-5.6

I previously had a F 100-300mm f4.5-5.6, - 2015, how time flies - and wasn't too impressed. I now have the FA version, acquired very cheap with an FA 28-80mm because both had lost the power zoom switches off the case. They were also described as hazed but that's pretty negligible.
Although the lenses are supposed to be optically the same, my first impression of this FA one is better. It performed nicely on my KS2, focusing quickly and accurately on the whitethroats. Big crops (~ 1500px, resized to 1k).

Not much to complain about with that IQ. There's always some variation from copy to copy of the same lens, so maybe you got a peach among the lemons.

K3 III + 150-450mm

Went out to test the camera/lens combo.

A couple of successful shots.

I think I need more practice and getting used to the camera's autofocus settings. There are a lot of missed focus shots.

That's lovely, especially with the flower that shines through the feathers. Is this all natural light of did you also use a flash?

As a test of my new K-3iii, I took this shot of the pinnacle of Mount Wellington, from a distance of 11.4km, with my F*300/4.5.

The photo was cleaned up for colour in CS5, and a little sharpening was added in Topaz AI (less than the recommended amount, which produced artefacts) plus some micro-contrast adjustment in Topaz Studio.

If you link through to look at the Flickr image and zoom in (I recommend using a web browser, as the Flickr app tends to blur detail) you can quite clearly see the structure of the tower on the right and the tops of the basalt columns.
