I had to resort to my old DA 55-300m zoom lens with the K-3 III today as the SDM motor on my DA*300mm finally falied and it is in for repair. I guess with the amount of use it gets it was only a matter of time. The old lens seems to have held up pretty well with the new camera (both significant crops), though the focusing was sometimes a bit hesitant.

Nicely done still with the old DA 55-300. Bummer on the SDM motor though.

Thanks Al - I had SDM failures on my DA*16-50 mm lens as well. The size of the DA*300mm prime plus TC is fine for me - I don't want to go bigger or heavier. The cost of repairs and the loss of use for of the lens for a while is a drag.

Thank you! I definitely agree with your friend! Its a very good lens indeed and lightweight.

Heres my other favorite Tammy, 150-600 G2.. Hooded Merganser (Lophodytes cucullatus)

I had that version of the Tammy on a Canon 7D, an excellent combo that was retired because of size & weight. MFT serves me better.

Nice colours and textures.

I'm still working with the DA 55-300mm ED on the K-3 III, until I get my DA*300mm back from repair.
