A lot of practice on tracking moving objects, pick a small target and try and keep it centered on your subject, I always try and track the head if I can.
One way you can see how well you track is by using a slower shutter speed and pick a point on your target, if your
sinking Syncing is off as you pan it will show up rather quickly
I Iike to use a heavier lens for most of my work 7.5 lbs for just the lens, the smaller light lenses I find are much harder to use, even with the swallow I like the larger lens.
As for how the camera is setup I like to use 9 point dynamic and also 3D tracking ( this is where you start by placing the AF point over the target and then let the 3D tracking follow the target around the FOV
As for AF hold I like to start off in the mid level to faster
