DA*300/4 with SMC-A 2X-S converter on KP Focused on the Canada goose gosling and was photobombed by a sandpiper!
I just received the 2X-S converter in a camera bundle and was testing. Handheld, braced on my car window (engine off) 1/500 sec; f/6.3(f13); ISO 1600

Great, but I forgot to say I also have one SB mini, and it's not my prefered.
It is getting emptied pretty fast... but also because of the type of bottle neck at the bottom makes one part (it'S divided in 3 internal silos) sometimes sutcks at the bottleneck side if using any mix with peanuts or larger seeds. otherwisw it,s okay compared to pargers SB+.

I really am not a "birder", so look at this image, you won't see many more from me...

Now for little birds

K300/4 and 1.7x AF adaptor on a K1 MKII

Little birds are quite a bit harder.

Loved the lens, fantastic piece of glass for the money but the A9's 24MP sensor wasn't enough for wildlife (which I find always needs a hard crop).
Only alternative for me (A7rIv af isn't quite good enough) is the A1 and that's just too expensive atm.

Gone back to my K-1/150-450mm & 7D MKII/150-600mm Sport for the time being.

Very impressed you were able to keep those swallows in the frame let alone in perfect focus gven how unpredictable they are! What auto focus setting did you use?

I had both of those combos for a while. Using them one day side-by-side I found the 7D mII AF much faster and more accurate than the K1. The Canon + Tamron locked onto birds coming to a feeder every time. The K1 + 150~450mm would miss the birds too often. They'd be gone before the AF locked on and the shutter tripped.
