Lots of colourful and charismatic birds here, for sure. The thing that often strikes North American visitors the most is the variety of parrots - 56 species, 51 of them endemic. Some are endangered and found only in isolated locations, but a number are locally very common (e.g. Crimson Rosellas here) and some are widespread and abundant (e.g. Little Corellas, Galahs, Sulphur Crested Cockatoos, etc).
