I am seriously considering getting a 43 Limited as I slowly replace my 18-200 with primes.
I've been very 'stingy' lately, saving all my money, and I haven't bought anything substantial for a fairly long time.
Could anyone recommend colour (is silver possible?) and place of purchase for the lens?
I like buying second hand, and I live in Sydney, Australia. If not available, what is the cost/value of getting one new?

Thanks.

Go Limiteds!

This thread has been trouble. As evidence, today I received my first limited of any kind, an FA31. I'm not worthy of this fine piece of glass. I can already tell that this will be my go to prime. And I'm going to need more limiteds, thus more money...

FA31 photo dump..

The wife doesn't like to have her photo taken.

Some lovely photos there axl. I see your lady is definitely showing that bump off - not too long now! Baby stuff aside, I love the second photo! As a relatively new father, I can only say yes it's more amazing than people tell you and no initially it's generally not as difficult as they have you believe. My advice is don't take it personally - newborns are some what binary, they sleep and cry. Once they start smiling the reward loop kicks in and it feels amazing!

Cheers

All new born's have only 3 jobs, eat-sleep-poop. Always hope your excels at sleep and not poop! Enjoy those first 6-7 months when you always find the baby where you left them, after that things get a lot more "interesting"
Congrats and remember to rest up while you can Axl, your wife will need you to have some sleepless nights too! Enjoy them, they only stay little for such a short time! I wish I had a DSLR when my first was born, there would be a few thousand MORE pics than I already have.

MSD, I'm not sure if you prefer international purchases or try to keep them in Australia, but I've seen them pop up once in awhile in the market here, other than that probably use B&H or a local shop as long as they can stay close with pricing.

So... with the UPS man's independent decision to flout the need for a signature at delivery, I arrived home on my porch today to discover (gratefully!) that I am now a member of this club...

And now I must partake in my long standing tradition of posting the first couple of atrocious snapshots from a new lens while beaming about the potential I now awkwardly hold in my hands. Photos first:

This lens is surprisingly warm, more so even than I was expecting. The OoF rendering and transitions are exactly what I was told they would be... I'm very excited to see what another day of sunlight will bring with this lens!

I think I was grinning at that massive disc of glass they call the front element! Thing's as wide as the barrel itself.

As long as you weren't looking down the glass to look for a pot of gold! At the price of the 77 and 31 you would think you should be able to shake it and some change fall out now and then.
