A question to all with both 31 and 43. I try to "feel" the focal difference with my zoom trying to
see if 31 and 43 are to close to eachother or not. Very hard to du unless i actually go out and lock the zoom to 43 and then 31 and take shots. I can imagine using the 31 more for wide landscape and the 43 for short tele stuff.

Whats your take on the need for both?

PS: I've read every single post in this thread. I am.....
no... i have no words

Edit: Congratulations Axl! Beautifull pictures of you and your child.

if you want the "holy trinity" then yes, you need both.
I've had all three of them and then got DA*55. I've sold 77 since and am in process of selling 43 now. Those two are both fantastic lenses, but their focal lengths are just not 100% there on APSC for me... 31+55 is better combo overall than 31+43+77 IMHO. Why?:
- less changes,
- better spread
- faster longer end

If you want only one of those, go for 31. Yes, that one is worth every penny they ask for it and yes, it is the best of the 3 IMO.

Thanks alot for your input! I apreciate and interested in the personal preferences people got, no matter what i think suits me the best. The input like yours make me think outside "my own box"

Of to ponder in a dark corner.....

The FA77 at 77mm f/1.8 gives thinner DOF than the DA*55 at f/1.4. Plus it's sharper, has almost zero distortion, less CA, is significantly smaller and lighter. For me the extra reach, equivalent to a 120mm on film, provides the perfect portraiture look. Besides all that technical stuff, it renders in that special way.

I'd say it's the first Limited to buy, but this just goes to show that everyone has different priorities!

24 + 43 + 77 is my perfect prime combo. The FA31 is not wide enough to make the grade.

Was thinking about the 31 and how wide it is. On film, is it like 19mm something APS-C wise?

In terms of FOV the APSC equivalent of 31ltd would be 21ltd AFAIK
