To CheddarGav: The 43 is soooo nice. I don't think you'll be disappointed! Yeah, it does people, but it can do landscapes too, just like the DA 21!

I still have ups and downs with my FA 43mm; some days, I love it, some days, it makes me want to cry.
I'm a little late to the party, but just had to resonate with this...I feel the EXACT same way. The 43 is such a diva.

Come on Keitha!!

I woke up this morning thinking rationally: "I need the DA21 more.... well, I think I do!"

And now this... ok, I'll buy one, if only to make the madness stop!

PS, beautiful shot

gawds no, you did good!! If you popped for the silver version I have read they aren't going to make any more sliver versions and certainly even if they do, none will come from Japan anymore so it can only increase in value over time. That is a very nice bonus! Plus it is on my MUST buy this year list, even ahead of the K7. So is a silver 31ltd, then I will have the whole "silver service for three" I think.

Technical Lens Report by Jun Hirakawa

Here is the beginning of a translation of some technical reports from a Japanese journal called Shashin Kougyou. These were written by the Asahi Optical engineer Jun Hirakawa about the development of the 43 and 77 Limiteds.

I especially liked why the 77mm focal length was chosen. But all of it is interesting.

I think what he was trying to say is that the 43 is a superior performer. I agree. Unlike the connotations of a diva being tempermental, the 43 is anything but. It handles anything you can throw at it with equanimity.

My vote is for "Afternoon Delight." It even has its own theme song.

I still laugh at that movie and love the sequel they made just from scenes not used in the first movie, went straight to DVD. here:

Wake Up, Ron Burgundy: The Lost Movie (2004) (V)

And apparently there is an actual Anchorman 2 in the works...but those first two are so uniquely FUNNY...so now,t hanks to this thread, every time I reach for the 77ltd I will hear THAT STINKING SONG and see those 'guys' singing the song!!! you bast...nope, not gonna say it!! hahahaha....

BTW, I too just added a 43ltd but got a new silver copy. So now all I need is the 31ltd silver soon as I can get off the all peanut butter diet this Pentax binge buying spree has put me on. I mean who can afford real food now?
