A simple message for the new year (FA43):

.

The Thousand Cranes.

And an incredibly potent an powerful sentiment captured, well seen. Very moving image for me.

Thanks, Jay! I have tried photographing that statue on at least 4 occasions before today, and finally think I captured it.

Guys, the full size image is 3000 pixels wide. Please roll on over to flickr to check it out. The 77 captured an amazing amount of detail.

I like this even better than the one in the DA15 thread! Do you turn down the clarity sometimes in your images? You often get a very ethereal feel.

dadipentak - I love the cat shot. Really playing to the strengths of the 77.

So, I went up to Golden Gardens Park today. It's a 2 hour walk from where I live, and the whole trip was under gray dismal skies. I had some shots in mind, but then.... well. Then this happened randomly (all photos with the FA43):

Probably one of the best sunsets I've ever seen in my life. And I thought it would be so lackluster. To be honest, even at sundown it wasn't great, and I was taking my time setting up for later blue hour shots. I looked up to see red everywhere and admit I had to scramble to come up with some sort of basic compositions.

These were more the photos I had intended to take today:

V5 - #2 is amazing, what a sky ! Would have liked to see it wider too. Excellent set.

Dave - love that cat shot !

V5 - Seattle. Wonderful, just superb on Flickr. As everyone says - print it, sell it, start a business with it !

One more sunset composition. I think I like this one the best (43 as well):

Cheers. I play with the clarity a fair bit - usually gets turned up a bit but on some such as this I turn it down. The one in the 15 thread has increased clarity in the foreground and decreased in the top half.
