That is lovely Sebcal, love your B&W conversion.

Is that HDR Deimos? I can see haloing around your subject.

I never really expected to get so much enjoyment out of making Cyanotypes:

Pentax LX with SMCP FA31mm f/1.8 Limited ASPH - T-MAX 400 (Pulled to ISO200, Developed in PYROCAT HD) - 35mm negative enlarged on a UV enlarger
which was actually designed for 8X10 negatives - image toned in black coffee. Okay I admit it: I'm a caffeine addict.
Interesting.. I thought Cyanotypes were blue but this one is a steely grey-blue on a warm backing. Nice.

Thanks Loco, Dadipentax & NicoleAu.

This one isn't an HDR shot: i usually prefere to take raw picture just to maximise the possibility to get what i want under LR.
Maybee i should try sometimes HDR...i just always forget that mode exist on the K5 ^^'
For this one, i didn't liked the color version, the B&W was much better. The halo is just some light flare, and maybee i played to much with recovery and other cursor under LR

Edit: thoo, i was stil asleep when i reply, didn't notice that was for Deimos

that colouration is because I "toned" the image in black coffee, using tea gives the image a pinkish rosy hue which I can't say I'm a big fan of.

Probably the best lens in the world - FA 43. First picture from me here, just got the 43 a week ago and I love it, it's the best lens I know of.

BTW, I tried the lens profile in LR3 and I think its destructive. Is there any reason to use it?

I love the lighting you've used here!

I love how small the FA43, aswell as how it renders. Great shot!

No just me learning how to use LR....

What might have caused the haloing in my PP? Can anyone tell?

I used LR3.5 + Silver Efex, I think it might be from Silver Efex, or maybe from me trying to pull detail from the shadows? but not sure, Ive seen it on a few photos and it drives me nuts

I do most processing in LR then maybe do a B&W conversion in Silver Efex, should I be doing everything in Silver Efex from the start or is it all preference?

If anyone can tell me what caused it/ how to avoid it in the future it would be great

you got great results here!
I love the FA43 too but sometimes wish it had an odd number of aperture blades, like 7 or 9 (instead of 8), to make the light stars a little prettier, but the wide open bokeh is really lovely and the thing is tiny too, which is super handy. congrats on your lens!

Superb Mike - could be a movie poster.

Where is that Sebcal - very nice image with just the right amount of darkness. Atmospheric.

Gorgeous Mike!

Deimos, I used black and white presets in Lightroom and then just tweak there. There are heaps of free ones on the net if you do a search

But do you have any idea what causes the halos? It is obviously from the PP but what part?

EDIT: I just posted the same question in a help thread https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/general-technical-troubleshooting/177420-...ml#post1849209

EDIT: Its from contrast adjustments in Silver Efex...
