Alarm is set for 4:15am. That will give me enough time to get something warm in my stomach and catch the series of buses to be there 40 mins before sunrise. Of course, there will be no telling whether the mountain is even visible until it starts to get light out so wish me luck! I may not even make it off the couch, who knows.
Do it. You'll only regret it if you don't go. And the sunrise will be amazing if you stay in bed. Thats the way it seems to work round my way.

Well, the color was rather muted this morning, but the cloudscape was quite lovely. Enfused image from three bracketed panoramas made with the 43, chopped back down and converted in Silver Efex:

At 4:30am I went out into the street and pointed my camera east for a long exposure, working under the theory that if the mountains weren't obscured by clouds (as they usually are) then the light of the full moon should catch their snowcaps and be just visible on the LCD. Indeed it was, and away I went. I might process some more takes later.

I'm curious, it's an assembled pano or a one shoot 'cropped ?

Both images are photostitched panos; the first is a pretty straight-forward 4 or 5 image stitch from the FA77. The B&W one was three separate panoramas at different exposure brackets combined into a single HDR panorama. The resulting image was pretty heavily cropped down.

This looks great! I just have to force myself out of bed to see it on my big monitor to get the full appreciation!

Combined last night's panorama with another from this morning with the 77. The light was just too different for me to create a compelling mesh of the two in color, unfortunately, which is a real shame because I rather liked the delicate peaches of the clouds. Oh well. Here's the B&W. Please take a look at the full resolution version too if it so tickles your fancy.

Yep, I really like this last one!
Looking at it in full res was very interesting. All the different components of this shot could keep me here for quite some time! Well done!

the composite is just right, Chris! this would look great on a canvas hanging on a wall.
