I had two lenses in my cart and it's been cleared out.

You can blame me for this because the FA31 I received has a fault and I've been trying to get a replacement.. when the local rep heard the price I paid he hit the roof and vowed to get the prices changed. They offered me a refund but at $841 I politely declined in favour of a fix or a replacement.
They only jacked up the $$$ on 31, 43 and 77 in think

Hmm yes .... I really should take some "family pictures" this mother's day with my DA35, I'm sure I can do it. And then i'll compare these to some "FA43's".

My mum is 70 and says all she want's for mother's day is a nice photo of us. Easier said than done.
When I point the camera at my son he does this..... .... and my wife does this ....

Hope CRK sort out a good copy for you soon.

The FA77 and the K5IIs are an excellent combination - I have considered the DA70mm f/2.4 because of its greater sharpness at wider apertures, faster AF and compact construction. But the FA77 does impressively well even at f/1.8 on the KIIs.

Yes, the AF system in the K5IIs is a big improvement over previous Pentax DSLR's - right out of the box I did not need to adjust the camera to any of the Pentax lenses I own: from the FA*250-600mm f/5.6 to the DA15mm f/4...though the Sigma lenses I use are still all over the place in terms of AF accuracy.
this is one of the main reasons why I'm still waiting with my purchase of the 31 & 77 limited. I currently have the k5 and the 40 & 70 limiteds and I'm veryy happy with their AF speed and image quality but the more comfortable I get carrying my "heavy" DA*16-50 on the camera, the less I use the limiteds. I'm really starting to see that If I have a good and fast standard zoom in my hands I'm less inclined to put on a prime unless it can give me a speed advantage. But I'm afraid that I wont be satisfied with their AF on the k5. So I'm waiting september to see what Pentax does next

The DA*16-50 is a nice lens, but the focus speed is not particularly good (although it is of course almost silent). I very much doubt you will find a noticeable difference with the FA limiteds, especially the 31 and 43. The 77 has a longer focus throw so it is a touch slower. On the K-5 IIs they are all super accurate.

What you do gain is over a stop of aperture speed, far better sharpness at wide apertures and much better performance at the edges. And you can bung them on a film camera and see what they are really capable of.

I use the zoom for my concert work, but when it was away for SDM repair I made do with the FA31 and FA77 and got many outstanding images. When I am shooting for ultimate IQ and my own pleasure I don't even pack the zoom.
