Originally posted by Sandy Hancock The DA*16-50 is a nice lens, but the focus speed is not particularly good (although it is of course almost silent). I very much doubt you will find a noticeable difference with the FA limiteds, especially the 31 and 43. The 77 has a longer focus throw so it is a touch slower. On the K-5 IIs they are all super accurate.
What you do gain is over a stop of aperture speed, far better sharpness at wide apertures and much better performance at the edges. And you can bung them on a film camera and see what they are really capable of.
I use the zoom for my concert work, but when it was away for SDM repair I made do with the FA31 and FA77 and got many outstanding images. When I am shooting for ultimate IQ and my own pleasure I don't even pack the zoom.
the problem is I have the k5 and I'm afraid its AF system will dissapoint in low light with the FA limiteds wide open. AF is my only con of the K5, otherwise its a "use it, till you break it" camera
I did almost buy the 77 limited here. I was in the States, there was one with a slightly bent hood for 600 $ but the seller didnt reply my finals pm until I was back to Croatia
