I have to say I was somewhat skeptical of the new and improved corrections of LOCA and CA in Lightroom - especially with a lens famous for it like the FA77 Limited:

Pentax K5IIS Pentax SMCP-FA77mm f/1.8 Limited @ f/1.8 1/250th ISO 400

But it worked very well. An image like this taken with a non apochromatic lens without the aid of software correction would have colour fringing all over it.

very nice image! How new and improved would you say it is? It would be interesting to see the before of this one (before you corrected the fringing)... Would you have corrected it as well before and just had to do it differently or work harder to accomplish the same result maybe? While not a usual LR user I played with the LR5 beta while it lasted but didn't get around to paying attention to this feature (unfortunately).

With the aggressive use of the CA and LoCa removal tools there is some slight de-saturation evident in the red leaf. However, the alternative to software correction would be to find a lens of 70mm focal length with an aperture of f/2 or faster that is apochromatic for Pentax K mount - something that simply doesn't exist.

Perhaps I should ask his wife Catherine who's one of my Facebook friends. ;-)

As I suspected, I don't mind the CA that is here at all and think I actually prefer it... I don't know what my problem is! It only usually seems to bother me enough to bother with when it's the strong PF in the bright highlights of high contrast areas. Speaking of contrast, does the removal of the CA also seem to affect the contrast slightly here? It seems like it might to me, but I don't know... While I slightly prefer the CA preserved version I can imagine that I might change that opinion fast if the exposure was any further to the right.

Thanks for sharing! I always learn something from your posts and appreciate that.
