MSM, nice portrait. But, your lens may be front focusing. The best thing I did with my K10D was to download the 'debug' mode and tweaked it for the FA43 as mine was FF as well. Once that was done it transformed from a good lens to a 'knock your socks off' lens.

Thank you for the suggestion. It is funny. I thought it was sharp, initially. But, after you mentioned it, I went back to see. It seems that the edge of the couch was sharper. I may try to tweak in the debug mode. As you know, the K10d only gets one tweak as opposed to adjusting per lens like the K20d, K7. I had tried to adjust using a set up I learned here for my 77 mm. I am not sure if this just made it worse for the 43 mm or perhaps the shot was just a slight movement back on my part. I did not use a tripod. At f/5, I was hoping to have a cushion with respect to DOF.

Do you recommend the Lens Align or an alternate way to adjust focus?

Many thanks.

Just keep the camera in parmanent debug.
That way, you can change the adjustment every time you change lens. That's how I do it. Reason?
FA31 needs +150um and FA43 needs +220um to get thing right.

Wide open is good. That first shot is great. The contrast is absolutely spot on.

Thanks Peter. I was wondering if anyone kept their K10d in permanent Debug mode. I guess that there is no harm in that. You do get that screen with 'Debug Mode' all the time, though.

My problem is getting the adjustment for each lens. Do you use a Lens Align product? What is your system of adjusting? The more I have looked into micro adjustments, the more I feel I don't know and I fear that I may be making things worse. I really would like to have my DA 35, FA 43, and 77 adjusted. It looks like 120, 130, 130um, respectively.

you do get the screen on, and saying Debug mode, all the time but you'll get used to it, and the battery life seems to be fine too,
My technique for getting the adjustment right? One bank statement, tripod, cable release and 2sec mirror lock up. I set the lens to what I think it should be, and then take series of shots 5+ and 5- with 10um respective adjustment, and compare the results, I settle on one and go to real life shots, if unsure, I repeat the test on bottle of conditioner, or shampoo or whatever else is available, repeat this with each lens, and sometimes even 3-4 times to make sure it's what it should be.
