Shot with K-30 and FA77
Nice! I like the reflection! Surprised to see that even on the K-3 the 31 seems to be tipping the body over. Such a heavy lens that one!

Great shots of the kids. Very nice air of informality--could not have been posed!
Thanks! The magic moments were kind of few and far between (kids were tired and it was hot). Just glad that the K-01 and the FA Limiteds were up to the task.

So over the past month I've rented all 3 FA LTD's and I honestly believe the 43 is my favorite.. I fully expected the 31 to my favorite, but the 43 just has.. something. Granted, it's an odd focal length on APS-C and CA can be a bit out of control (easy enough to fix in LR) but the images themselves? They speak for themselves.

Here're a few from Thanksgiving.. I packed very light.. just my K30 and a 43mm f/1.9 prime. 43mm is a bit more forgiving indoors than 50mm, but it still felt a little tight on APS-C. I prefer 30'ish mm indoors. The last shot is my favorite because it has almost a 3D'ish rendering to it.. the way the bokeh isolates the subject is just wonderful. I believe they're all ISO 1600.
The 43 is intresting because its the middle ground between the classic 85mm portait and 50mm(talking FF lenghts). The 43 is long enough to force framing from a bit of distance most of the time but wide enough to capture some of the surrounding scene. I think that's why it produces a lot of really interesting photos. I have a FA77 which is amazing at being sharp but sometimes I don't like it with subjects when it's shot at a long distance to capture a lot of the scene because there is a bit too much of a telephoto look.

Well hello all, I will make myself comfy in here & join with my silver 43mm. I will add a couple of recent shots I took for the bokeh challenge this month and ask all 43 owners what kind of bokeh do you get. I thought it would be more hexagonal than circular, but it surprised me :-).
I am finding it a challenge in itself how to get the most of this lens, what are people's experience? Though now I am in this crazy monthly challenge I guess I will answer the question at the end of the month!! :-) Cheers

Wide open or stopped down? I much prefer the 43's bokeh between 2.8 and 4. Produces some lovely octagons.

Examples:

And here're two wide open.

Interesting, I shot at 1.9 or 2.0 so wide open and got more circular effects....Is your 43mm old glass?

Thanks! I don't like to use cream tone B&W processing too often unless it seems appropriate and it just felt right for those two shots.

I added two wide open shots to my post. Definitely consider stopped down just a tiny bit if the light allows. It adds a bit of character to the bokeh, IMO. The two top shots above were both at f/2.8 and ISO3200.

I'd have to check the serial on mine to see how old it is, though.
