So in the region of 500 peanuts?

The price of this lens is absurd considering every user says it's not all that sharp wide open.

Thanks for the replies regarding protective filters on the FA Limited's.
I had a faint idea that those who own them would not use fliters .... but I asked.
Thanks again.

Here's a couple from FA 77mm Ltd that I like very much. Most shot wide open.

There's more to life than sharpness. Besides, the FA43 is sharp enough. I compared its charts to a beloved Summilux and it was a much of muchness. So it's equal to the best lenses around.

I wish the Pentax prices would deflate. But the FA Limiteds are worth it nonetheless.

Agreed. I love my 43 and I've produced very sharp images wide open.

On the other hand discussing filters, I bought my 43 new, and after spending that kind of money I wanted a filter to protect my investment. At the cost of very little IQ loss, it's worth it to me to put a filter on.

That sounds like a dare to me. I only hope I haven't posted it in this thread before

If yes, does it affect the IQ of the images and what type/brand of filters are you using.
Interested to know because I am considering the limited's.

JP
Never have used other than CPL's and ND filters. For storage or even while on the body I bought some 49mm (and some 52mm for the 52mm filters I often use on my FA limiteds via step up/down ring) center pinch lens caps. Never carry the original FA ltd caps because, well, they are kinda problematic as they will fall off is looked at with a scowl, maybe even with a smile. And for a few bucks I have lens caps that work fine when in the bag...btw, I have always felt most scratching or front element damages comes from cleaning but carrying around on covered lenses in the bag can't be too far behind. Cheap center pinch caps pretty much eliminate the lament that it's too much trouble to take the cap on and off when out shooting. Otherwise the hoods should cover all but the most unique circumstances.
