Is there one lens to rule them all, and in the proper lighting, bind them... ?

Ah, but don't forget about the silver vs black, oh, and the MIJ and AIV copies. Three is the number to just pull you in. Once you have even one, you'll never be free

Don't forget the DA Limiteds. The 31 led to the 77, and after picking up a K-5IIs, I'm so very tempted by the 15.

Same here. I think when you get into the big camera thing you start with wanting wide angle and you try and get everything in the shot. Looks awful.

As you age your favorite focal lengths get longer. I went from <17mm as fave, now at 135mm and I have a Jupiter 21M 200/4 on order.

Wide has its place, but for those funky perspective shots and not so much for landscape or much else.

I disagree that this looks awful by cramming everything in. Personal preference, but there are certainly focal lengths for everything and it's why art is about expressing what you see or want others to see. I haven't found a focal length I dislike. I don't own anything wider than 28 other than the 18-55 kit lens, but the 15 is on my list. I like the long focal lengths as well.

K-5 and 31 with off camera flash. The boy got his hair chopped for the first time yesterday. A picture of his traumatic experience is on the film shots thread.

Crossposting from film thread.

I have stumbled upon a nice restaurant in Jiyuugaoka in Tokyo. The decor was great, full of atmosphere. It seated about 10 people max. The chef's left arm paralysed, but he did an amazing job and the food was delicious!

Shot with Pentax MX and 43mm f1.9 limited.

Thanks! It's an awesome lens. I seem to bounce between that and the 31. I shot all day today with the K-5IIs and 77. The 77 was on the LX all day Saturday.

I agree. Getting the shot is about using the right focal length. Sometimes a long lens will work better, but sometimes a particular landscape craves a wider angle. Glad we have both options.

A couple of FA 77 limited shots...

It was 50 degrees here on Saturday and my daughter thought it was warm enough to wear sandals outside. That lasted about five minutes before she went inside to get some shoes...

I've enjoyed watching my four year learn that my wife and I actually know what we're talking about by letting her make her own choices, against our recommendation, when non-life threatening, and letting her figure it out. The hat/coat/gloves and choice of shoes are things she's questioned and latter figured out that we have a good idea of what her temperature tolerance is going to be. We pack what we think she needs and she's sheepishly asked for a coat or whatever later. No need for the "told you so." We figured it was better to let her learn that way rather the authoritarian crusher of free will and imagination.

Nice DOF in the bottom image. And the sandals really provide a pop of color.
