Three taken with the 77 from a series taken, in the late afternoon, of a violinist on the main high street in Ginza, Japan.

Nice shots! First one in particular is quite striking.

Some more snappers from Ultracon.

Gorgeous set, LeRolls! Maybe it's just me, but while your con shots with the 43 are gorgeous, the 77 color and rendering are really something else.

As always your kind words are much appreciated JJ! I'd have to agree with you on the 77. For people shots it's my favorite lens and if I could use it all the cons I attend I would but unfortunately space and time constraints tend to be quite limited at most of these gatherings. Ultracon was far less crowded than what I was used to so I was able to pull off a few shots. If Pentax ever does get around to releasing a Full Frame than it would be much easier to work with the 77 under these conditions.

One more shot with the 77.

And a B&W with the 43.

I still need to tune the AF on my lenses. It's off by a bit.

Here are some shots I took using the 77 limited while the antique baby grand piano I bought my wife for christmas was receiving its initial tuning. It's probably going to need another one, and a cleaning.

Really impressed with the 2nd shot. It's not just the bokeh which is fabulous, but the overall rendering - magnificent.

Was this a crop from a larger image taken?

Thanks!
Spent about 2 hours messing with LensAlign & FocusTune last night and my 77 needed about -1 correction (when I took these, I think it was at +5 from an earlier try with the software). My 31 I'm not quite satisfied with yet - I need to light the target more evenly for it like I did for the 77, but it was floating around -3/-4. The variation from one shot to the next was too high across the board on them, though. Not enough light and I was applying too much pressure to the camera when I was switching MF on and off.

Thanks! No, that's the whole picture but with 24 MP I wouldn't have minded cropping and I do it often with the K-3.

I've found that cropping aggressively on the K-3 (even down to 3MP), using the FA43 set at minimum focus distance, opens the door to a unique kind of "pseudo-macro" photography, which can yield really fabulous results - but crucially, the DOF must be done just right.

Of course, 3MP won't do large prints, but it's fine for monitor viewing, and the results obtained per above method can be very beautiful!

Incidentally, working in this "pseudo-macro" manner has afforded me a very interesting opportunity to study the In-focus to Out-of-focus transitioning nature of the FA43, but over VERY SHORT distances.

The 43 has been rightly praised for its beautiful bokeh transitioning - at conventional distances - but under this "pseudo-macro" method I've been able to study it over very short distances, and from what I've seen so far it's impressively beautiful. Thus that commendable bokeh transitioning of the FA43 aforementioned seems to be something which fundamentally works on a small scale, and is maintained when drawn out over longer, "conventional" distances.

EDIT: Sorry, in the above, "Out-of-focus" should actually read "Semi-out-of-focus".
