Thank you for the kind words. They are certainly appreciated. I have to admit that this is probably one of my least favorite shots that I have posted but I sometimes struggle to get genuine smiles from the models I work with so I was hoping her expression might make up for the rest of the image. The idea behind the angle was to keep the railing out of the shot and to just have the shimmering water as the background. I still like the idea but I suppose the execution could have been better.

We have to work with what we have got in on location images, it is a great shot with all merit really, for me just the camera angle, and yes a lovely smile. I remember ages ago when I was photographing young dancers, mainly portrait and group shots, some of the very young I would try to direct to produce a smile and more often than not they would just stand there and look at me

it was ok when i asked for their favourite dance move, I soon learned to have someone with me that could pull funny faces and chat to them

Not easy to direct people as such.
