Ibis, glad to hear they're still around. I fell out of following the MTB world a long time ago... Although I decided this is the year I get back to biking. My new job is near a county park with many trails.

First Light at 35,000ft

I was out before dawn this weekend attempting a 45 shot panorama with my 77 ltd. Whilst I was waiting for the sun to rise a noticed a short wisp of a contrail in the distance. I had time for a quick practice shot and then a hand held shot as the aircraft passed by the moon.

I wasn't expecting much; the aircraft was nothing more than a golden glint over the horizon and I later calculated the distance between the aircraft and myself was about 20km. Blown up, it's possible to count the wingspan as being 49 pixels across. I was blown away by the capability of the lens and the camera.

So, whilst not exactly a high quality picture, I thought I'd put it up to show what this lens can do.

F8, 1/160, ISO100 on a K-3ii with SR switched on. Manually focussed using live view to an object about 300m away and cropped to death. It actually looks pretty crisp in full resolution TIF format.

Beautiful flowers. I have the 77, and can often identify photos taken with this lens by their bokeh and "painterly" appearance.

Now you see that how reviewers should shot brick wall for their tests !!!

People would still complain of the lens being weak on borders, I am sure
