In regards to sharpness, I think on the K-7 the AA filter is a bit too heavy handed. I don't know about the AA filter on the K20D but on the K10 the sharpness of the FA31 is staggering. The same goes for the FA77 on K-7 it's not bad it appears softer wide open however, wide open on the k10 it is simply fantastic. I actually use the K-7 for close up portraits and I use the k10 for full length portraits. because all of the FA limited are just too sharp for their own good at tight head shots.

I have the Leica M version of the 43Ltd and I have been using it on my Leica M9 I got for my birthday. I'll have to post a few images because the 43LTD on the 18MP M9 @f/4 yields some of the highest resolution I have ever seen from a non Leica lens, I'll do a comparison with the Voigtlander 40mm f/1.4 just for kicks.

I agree with you regarding the AA filter. My FA77 seemed a lot sharper straight out of the camera on the K10D then it has on the K-7. Of course, the K-7's output is overall more consistent than the K10d's.

I look forward to seeing that. Congrats on the M9. I see that Novoflex makes a Pentax K to Leica M adapter. If it works, maybe you could try all your Pentax lenses on your Leica

Wow, that's really interesting. Makes me wish I hadn't sold my K10. I didn't have my limiteds when I had it. Maybe the "K5" will take a step back in this direction, though it seems that would be against the Pentax evolutionary trend.

I would really like to see some images from the 43 on your M9. Though can anyone seriously question the sharpness of that lens after seeing pcarfan's frog? Anyone not getting sharp images out of that jewel is handicapping it somehow, deliberately or not.

"Novoflex makes a Pentax K to Leica M adapter"

OMG, i didn't know that. I am so going to get one of those.Looks like the FA31 and FA77 and 50mm f/1.2 are going to be put through their paces.

this is what I have in mind:
FA31 LTD Vs Leica-M 35mm summicron (f/2)/summilux(f/1.4) pre-asph/asph
SMCP-K 50mm f/1.2 Vs Leica-M Noctilux 50mm f/1.0/Konica Hexanon-M 50mm f/1.2
FA77LTD Vs Leica-M summilux 75mm f/1.4

I know it's not entirely fair to test rangefinder glass against SLR glass, but what the hell...looks like I'm going to have a busy weekend.

I like this one. Of course it has a sex appeal because of the legs, but it also has a gentleness to it that I find appealing as well.

Lol, you're ambitious! I have to admit, when I first saw that Novoflex Pentax K to Leica M adapter I started doing mental gymnastics about how reasonable it would be to run a duel Leica/Pentax system. Luckily for me the M9 is basically perpetually out of stock.

I'm not sure how the Pentax will do against their Leica counterparts, especially considering the Pentax lenses will have to be on an adapter (could degrade quality?). But I think it will be really cool if the lenses work on the M9 at all. I want to see how they look on the M9's sensor. I'm crossing my fingers that the adapter works in the first place.
