My daughter got dressed up for the theater yesterday and I just had to break out the 77/1.8 (it loves her ;~)

You certainly won't hear any complaints from me. I love the results you get with this lens and film.

FA43. I hope I didn't overcook this one.

Very nice! The 77 is a lover of people, and faces in particular.

Great shots from you all. I also love the FA77. I got it a couple months ago and find it never comes off my K5. The K5/77 is such a great combination for portraits. I personally like to get some distance from my daughter for more candid shots, so the focal length is ideal - not a problem even indoors.

@Antifreeze That fourth B&W shot is great! Your daughter's expression of wonderment is perfect. The pic really shows off the FA77's strength of subject isolation with the background having just enough info to give context while not distracting from the real subject.

Thank you Tom. I'm glad you like the b&w shot. I agree the isolation and bokeh of this lens is outstanding. I tend to be more excited with the output from this lens than any of my others, including the FA31 and DA40. The longer focal length lends to some great DoF. And it is SCARY sharp, especially from f/4 or greater!

BTW - I enjoyed looking through your galleries. You have some really great work

You're welcome. I'm a big fan of the FA77 too but actually use the FA31 a little more. I had to use an AF fine adjustment of +6 to get it consistently sharp but that's no big deal. I'm hoping to get my grubby hands on the FA43 eventually. I think it would be a really useful AOV to have in the bag.

Thanks! I'm glad to hear you checked them out and liked what you saw. That reminds me though that I need to do some updating to them. I don't really have much on the forum galleries here. I've been neglecting my website and facebook page some and I need to upload a bunch of pictures to flickr that I have sitting on my hard drive ready to go.

Wow, thank you for your comments. It's always interesting and fun to see which of your pictures people like most. Especially coming from the photogs on this forum.

This lens really is magic. I'm sure I'd love the DA70 as well but I can't recommend the 77 enough.

1/100; f/2.5; ISO 800

Beautiful! But, with that lens and that subject, it must be hard to take a bad photo ;~)

Such a precious shot you've captured here. She will thank you when she's older
