Just got my 1st of the inevitable trio.........a FA 77....1st photo

It will be my role in this "club" to post photos that bring the overall standard down somewhat so that newish members will not be so intimidated. I will carry out this role through the application of my inherent photographic skill......

I'm sorry. But that's not possible when you have an FA77 at your disposal.

This still life was originally envisioned as a Black & White but I rather like the color version too. FA 31

Let me know if you have any thoughts.

LeRolls, I *know* it's a top down perspective, but some reason my eyes hurt. It appears like an entirely flat scene but the mortar and pestle seem to create a small bottomless hole within...

To LeRolls… I think the still life looks expertly done with excellent lighting and an illumination range that captures an incredible amount of detail. From maximum highlights to minimum shadows with both displaying minimal domination of the scene. Interestingly, this and another thread promoted me to make a comparison with my two different laptops (old HP Pavilion and newer Macbook retina). Regarding the B&W version and the bottom of the bowel- the HP displays a little more circular detail in a 1/3 detail to 2/3 shadow fashion (love it), the Retina displays less detail leaving the shadow as dominating.

I don't think I've ever had anyone tell me that one of my images made their eyes hurt but thanks all the same for leaving the feedback.

Thank you for your considered comment! I am still trying to get better with my lighting setups especially in controlled situations such as this.

Started as an idea to do an abstract still life utilizing items available in my kitchen. I couldn't quite get the color version to click for me but once I went B&W it just felt right. FA 31

Let me know if you'd like to see the color or you can just check out my flickr account.

I, for one, would like to see the color ... I find it an interesting comparison at times ... Salut, J

Color version coming right up!

I do like them both for different reasons but just find the B&W to be a bit more eye-catching at least from first glance.
