Thanks Noel. Never seen that on my wanderings around the market but I'll look for it next time I'm there. A lot of people here just don't appreciate what these people are running away from.. tragic!

Well Doug's beard is quite impressive. It's gotten way more advanced that the now popular hipster beards you might see in Bondi or in "Melbs" sipping a latte.
Thanks mate! I like to think I'm more distinguished than the average bearded dilettante.

Again the more advanced evolution of the beard might be an Adelaide thing. There's a cool Rock/Folk band from Adelaide called The Beards
My housemate is a folk singer himself - and he knows these guys personally.

I just got this crazy idea. I'm really getting into primes lately especially with my FA 43 and F*300. Maybe I should sell my DA * 16-50 and 50-135 and just go for a brand new FA 31. Please someone talk me off the ledge.

Maybe you have done this already, but if not, check the proportion of shots that you take with the 16-50 that are close to 31. If you don't favor this focal length, you might want to reconsider.

I totally understand this sentiment and have no doubt that you would love the 31, but if you can swing it, I would only sell the 16-50 to fund it. The 50-135 is such a spectacular mid-range (to me) zoom and I have found it to be fairly irreplaceable. You're just not gonna find another zoom anywhere around that range that has the same quality IQ. I've had the Sigma 50-150 and while there's nothing wrong with it, it just can't compete, IQ-wise.

The 16-50 is a fine lens (I used to have one) but is not quite as singular as the 50-135, IMO.

I hear what you're saying and you are without a doubt right. I would keep the DA* 50-135 regardless.

I would have a hard time losing the DA* zooms, even getting the FA 31 in trade. Yes, it is a lot better at 31mm than the 16-50, but the zoom will be wider and longer which is worth a lot in flexibility.

If the versatility and weather resistance of the zooms are still of use to you I think you would regret selling them.
But you should definitely get the FA31 as well ;-)
