What a fantastic shot! I take it you were not in the bay area when this was taken. I lived in N. CA for a number of years and the best I saw was the Golden Gate Bridge.

Beautiful! (though I think I like it better with the reflection off the ice sheet cropped off - it's a little distracting)

Thanks! this is between Yosemite and Mono Lake, almost to Nevada. The skies are so dark there you can plainly see the mw and colors with the naked eye.

Thanks and fair enough! Some people "fake" their milky way images by compositing all the elements; i purposely tried to show the interaction of sky with water so people know this actually happened that way and was not pieced together. I also risked life and limb to climb down to the water's edge, so wasn't gonna not compose with the water, lol.

I love your commitment to your art (and the results are superb)! You lost some gear when you were hit by a wave a year or so ago, if I'm not mistaken.

indeed. i've transcended that idea of babying my rig and now only see gear as the tools that are needed to collect the shot. As such, good expensive pieces may occasionally fall into harm's way but that is just part of the deal. i have broken, waterlogged, lost things in rivers and the ocean.

and i'd rather be shooting subjects such as this one where it is less likely i'd get injured, but that is my lot in life...

From the morning dog-walk... Is it a morning glory? (apparently not - my wife thinks it's a marshmallow, and I'm inclined to agree)

Very nice! Both lovely models. Was it the 77 on the K-1?
