It takes a bit of work to get the sense of movement to be satisfactory, doesn’t it? Every water flow is different: velocity, lighting, terrain etc all play a part in refusing a simple solution to capturing that impression. I’d say your second image is preferable, but an even slower shutter speed might have helped further, which probably would have required the use of ND filters (something I don’t tend to carry in my bag, normally), unless you could come back when the light wasn’t so bright. Obviously, you’d stopped down as far as you could go, and your ISO setting was likewise the lowest.
