Originally posted by Jonathan Mac I’ve found the FA43 to be an extraordinary lens, in several aspects, one of which being the fact that it has subtly different “behaviour”/“character”/“look” at different apertures (especially so at the wider values), and by this I do not mean merely that the DOF differs. This makes it a lens of complex behaviour; I’ve found it richly rewarding learning to exploit these complexities to beautiful advantage, in the images rendered.

I love the FA43’s f8 “look”: details are crisp, deep and aplenty, yet the image is rendered with a lovely “old-school” warmth to it. So much so that I’ve often dialled in f8 on the 43 when I desire that effect.

Re the FA31 shot: Love that foreground bokeh, and the composition.
Re the FA77 shot: What to say? It IS after all the legendary portraiture lens!
