Bonsoir Hin,

Thanks for the "heads up" post ... Sorry that I am kind of slow (and kind of broke at the moment thanks to slow paying eBayer buyers), but I need to PM you again about the 13A, and I will watch for your new listings ... Salut, J

Bonjour,

I went to a swap meet in Tours on Sunday morning and picked up a lot of goodies ... here's part of the Tamron AD-2 snags ...

Left and middle column is an "01A" (35-80/2.8-3.8 SP) consisting of its original case (in bad shape), a filter, original lens cap, then in the middle top is the very nice 01A, an FD mount and FD mount rear cap. All for 40€ ... purchased from an individual seller who was selling off most of his personal collection.

Far right column is a near mint "17A" (35-70/3.5) with a PKA mount and original lens cap ... the 17A was 30€ and the PKA mount was thrown in for an extra five (5) euros! Purchased from a "dealer" (he had a big table full of gear) that apparently does not know/care what it is worth ... I asked him how much he wanted for the PKA mount, and when he answered "cinq", I said "d'accord" ... weird luck! Salut, J (x post)

*sigh*

so i bought a pka off ebay and it arrives with a screw loose on the flange thing that holds it in place on the lens. i could chuck a ruckus with the seller, but i'm just annoyed at the moment.

wondered, are those little screws easy to come by? if so, am tempted just to go out and buy one and replace it. anyone ever lose one of those screws?

They should be: There are tonnes of "useless" custom mounts for old Canon bodies and similar on e-Bay that go for a fraction of a fraction of the prices for P/KA mounts.

Alternatively you might consider super glue (locktite or epoxy types): Chances are slim that you would ever want to take your mount apart?

I also notice a 26A at £115 (typical auction price 20-40) but this took the biscuit.....

I would say that even people in the UK are using Ebay for maximum profit, or so they think!! Prices on Ebay are higher in the US than anywhere else you might buy the item, any item. Plus it is dominated in the US by "Ebay sellers" who don't care if you get the correct item or if they packed it to arrive in one piece. A sad change from back when Ebay started and I started buying and selling on it. I managed to snag some very special deals back in those days that just would not happen today. Yes, this is just my opinion and need not affect anyone else.

I quite agree that ebay has become ever more commercialised and here in the UK I would say that the majority of sellers are "commercial". Certainly the recent rule changes (charging commission on postage!) have damaged further (what was left of...) their community reputation. For the mo there are enough genuine sellers, and I can't complain at the deals I have acquired....

I have stayed away from eBay (on purpose) until recently ... I have found a few good individual seller deals lately (in UK & France), but also got "burned" by some bad sellers, both individual and "semi-pro" (one in the UK & another in Belgium for "semi-pro's") ... and a couple of individual French sellers, too. Overall positive, but I need to slow down and de-connect from it for awhile ... just my 2 cents ... Salut and happy Thanksgiving to you Statside PF members ... J

Ok people, I have a question. I own two adaptall 2 80-210 103as. I have just noticed that these two, despite having the same designation (103a) actually are different in size (!) Serial number 31xxxxx is actually smaller than serial number 41xxxxx. From memory both came with pk adapters. One from Australia, the other from Canada.

The longer one has haze in the front element and a super loose focus ring, but I doubt that's more from user misplacement/storage than a design fault that might make it more susceptible to whatever.

From my very basic use of the longer one, it seems to show the same qualities as the shorter one. Sharp images, nice bokeh. Any thoughts or comments? I never thought that the lenses would change much from production batch to production batch. But the longer one, is seriously longer! albeit only by half a cm or so

Hate to ask, but are you sure they just aren't on different focus settings (i.e. the shorter one is on infinity and the other is not)? (And zoom pushed all the way in on both.)
