The 23A is, so far, my favorite lens ever. The 19AH is a close second for me.

I understand, I sold my 19AH as the 23A was just as sharp in my book and had a much better range and a macro facility.
I must admit I have bought another 23A, rather tatty but working, as a back up.
I shall be shooting the moon with the 55BB soon as we get some drier warmer weather to see how it fares and if I can, with a Tamron SP teleconverter attached as well.

I had three good copies of the 23A, so I gave one to a friend just starting out, who uses a Nikon (fortunately, one of my adapters was for Nikon). I might sell my 19AH, for the reason you state. However, I have found it slightly better indoors for kids' sports. Slightly better f-stop at range.

I came across a couple of good U-tube reviews of the 500mm mirrors:

Both are also good on technique.

Tonight, because I had the time, I took my 500mm Tamron Adaptall-2 55BB, attached the 1.4X TC, and then attached that to a 2x Sigma TC.

Results attached, but not as bad as I thought.

A second Moon shot for today (see above @jawats) not as majestic, but still with an Adaptal 2 lens... 80-210 3.8-4

It looks like you could use some post-processing.

Brighter, sharper, contrast?

I gave it a go, but backed off... it was hand-held, so a bit shaky, and I wanted to keep shadows more relevant.

Thanks - photos like all is a matter of taste; I get that not everyone likes the same, so it is all good. I did like it, and I also saw that "lonely" feel it projects - that is how the moon portraits in my side of the night sky.

slyfox ... i am guessing you are getting about all the goodie out of this lens as a handheld .... it magnifies even shutter vibration about 10 times, and has a depth of sharp focus of about 1/64 of an inch ..... the next level will require a tri-pod and some teeth-gritting ... .... i like your pics, the colors are good ... , be anxious to see what that next level might look like ...
