So I bought an Adaptall 2 90mm F/2.5 that comes with a Nikon adapter (should be with me in a day or two) and then someone pointed me to the same lens with a PK adapter. I was just going to use the adapter from my 35-70mm however I think I'll see which of the two 90's is best, keep the PK adapter and then sell on the remaining lens with the Nikon adapter.

I may then try to track down the spacer that gives 1:1 macro.

I took the SP 70-210mm f.3.5 (19AH) on the same walk as the SP 28-135 and have to say it was a lot better. The 19AH is sharp corner-to-corner on full frame at all focal lengths I used it at. I took a similar town scene and it was night and day difference.

I'll be selling the 28-135 and keeping the 70-210 for landscape. I also have an SP 28-80mm for the wider end, but that lens is soundly beaten by my Minolta MD 35-70mm f3.5 Macro which is not only sharp corner to corner, but much more flare resistant.

I am on the hunt for the 35-210 26a, but not many around at the moment and the ones listed are on for a lot IMO.

Some pictures with the 19AH.

First SP90 arrived today and despite a little external wear and tear (which I knew about) it seems to have a smooth focus and initial tests suggest the glass is good. It came in the original soft case which is falling apart; I'll see if there is a way to rescue it.

Few quick snaps from the computer chair. White balance adjusted.

Clock about 12 feet away
Keyboard about 10 inches away
Globe about 16 feet away

Took the SP 28-80 (27A) out for a quick walk and it has potential. I think I will use this lens a bit more this month and see how it handles corners and edges on full frame.

Had five minutes and popped outside with the SP90 to test shooting at distance. It has a lovely smooth action when focusing. I'm still practicing getter sharp focus at large apertures (this was at F/4) so it's not perfect in this shot. This is SOOC so it can do with a bit of processing to improve the contrast.

Congrats on the 90/2.5! It's a wonderful lens.

I kept both my Adaptall 90s, the 52B and the 52BB. Both are superb, I use them on K-70 with a PK adapter and on my Sonys with M42 and m42-NEX adapters. I also have both the 1:1 extension tube and the 01F teleconverter/1:1. Both are very good but the interchange of adapter rings is very fiddly when adding these two things.

Definitely both are great general-purpose teles as well as macro. I just cannot bear to part with any. I have also just ordered a SP35-80 (01A), since my previous one was possibly the best lens I had. Add to my 28mm, 60-300mm and a wonky 24-48mm that behaves as a 24-35ish.

Nothing wrong with having lots of Adaptall 2 SP lenses, is there? The only two that do not get a run very often are the 500mm mirror and the 40A.

Not sure why the 40A doesn't get much exercise, unless it is because of the odd focal length range, especially on APS-C. However, I only have 2 Adaptall-2 lenses, and I'm enjoying the 40A so much I'm not I want to share its adapter with my other lens (103A)

Second SP 90 arrived. Again, a little rough on the exterior but again it has terrific glass inside. I shot a couple of snaps but plan to do a side-by-side test this weekend and then let one go.

So I've decided to stick with prime lenses for my Olympus EM1 MkII (so Pentax 50mm F/1,7; Helios 58mm F/2; Tamron SP90mm F/2.5 and a 135mm (I have two so need to decide which one).

Obviously I'll be able to use all of these on my ME Super and Spotmatic SPII but I also wanted a zoom as a walkaround for the Pentaxes.

I just bought a Tamron SP 28-80mm f/3.5-4.2 CF Macro zoom lens which I should have in a few days time. I think I'm becoming an Adaptall addict

Another SP90 shot from today. Cropped, contrast adjust and small increase in exposure. JPG from the camera.

If you insist that I use the 40A then here I go. Taken at sunset on Sony A6000, ISO 400, and shot using the rotating barrel "macro" to get framing and focus. All are jpegs straight from the SC card.
