It is shame that I have no time for newer pictures. But I want to share some memorable shots with Tamron adaptall-2 500mm f/8.0 (55BB) lenses

Wish to have more time to work on the focus and shutter on the 1st and last shot.

I tried the 1.7x with my 360B and found that I spent more time manually verifying AF than if I simply used MF to begin with. That could just be my own old MF habits at work but I didn't find the AF function to be useful (for me) and consequently sold that TC to another member.

I DO like, and use, the manual focus Tamron Pz-AF 1.4x TC with the 180mm, 300mm and 80-200 (30A) SP lenses and occasionally use it as an extension with the 90 macro. It's equal to the Adaptall 140F converter and MUCH more convenient to use.

Thanks for the information. I am just curious if the AFA works but I do know that I will be bothered by the back-and-forth between AF and MF as well. I used the AFA 1.7x a few times on a Photosniper Tair 3 Phs



and that 300mm lens is very difficult lens to use as there is cocking step to stop down the aperture for focusing and I can only shoot single shot after the cocking.




Though all the odds, the AFA actually works with the M42 mount lens to get partial AF but the caveat comes into the requirement to MF to close proximity of the subject. Hence the sluggishness in overall usage.

I no longer have the Tamron 1.4x TC, I should have kept my wonderful copy. My current long lens combo is using the 1.7x TC with Pentax F* 300mm f/4.5. The F* 300 is smaller and much easier to hand-hold than the Photosniper. The toilet plunger like lens hood and all the oddity of the russian lens are kept in its original metal box for bragging rights. I hardly find the time and patience to use it -- a shame.



I do get tempted by the 360B in faster speed and I do wish Dave or H2 live next door to me so that I can get a sense of the lens in person.

Sorry my friend. I am BIG to share my LBA joy with others. The mirror lens is without its problems. I got two copies and the 1st copy was full of fungus and I sold it almost half price from what I bought. And the donut bokeh may not be pleasing if your background is too close to the shooting subject. I do find the lens very unique and it surely stands out from other long lens -- it is heavenly lightweight in field usage.

Him, I was just being a smart a$$ With beer can deal! Been intrigued with the mirror lenses for years. Helped a guy put up a rather large mirror telescope out here on our place a few years back. We don't have much stray light, and wow, the images he captured were amazing! I remember thinking then about getting a Tamron 55 B then, but money was tight so...... I've never even held one! I've been burned on used lenses a few times so it doesn't look too good at the moment either! Sure enjoy viewing your work!

Btw, the circular bokeh doesn't bother me at all! My 03A creates a strange bokeh too! Something within the lens stacking I suppose?

Probably similar in weight but larger diameter. Not too bad to handle. I've got the earlier version. Here is a shot of it with a 1.7af. The lens hood is substantial.

Took advantage of a power outage last night.. good old work horse 24mm f2.5!

Your setup looks impressive. When you have time, please share with us how you like your gimball type of tripod head. I have never used one and if I ever get a big lens such as the 60B/360B or your earlier version, I will need a better setup on the tripod head.

I certainly agree! It appears the lens isn't doing too badly, but the photographer is doing equally as well! Very nice photos! I've spent a few hundred hours at the Lawrence Hall of Science many moons ago! IT was a great place for kids then, I can only imagine what it must be like today! Great weather! Don't get that clear view too often! Lucky you!

Afraid all I have to share, Adaptall wise, is a photo is one I took Thanksgiving day of my wife's uncle with the 30A.

Jobu Jr 3. About $350 or so plus lens plate. It works very well. It damped movement on two axis'. Very stable yet easy to follow moving subjects.

You're all making me feel bad for not getting a chance to use the 55BB 500mm beercan that I picked up recently with the 02f 2x teleconverter... I hereby resolve to get at least one picture taken and posts here for the sake of posterity. (Also had the tele-view spotting scope conversion eyepiece - unusual, but I like it)

Night Flowering Cactus doing its thing over a few hours last night. First 3 with 24mm/2.5 01BB, next 3 90mm/2.5 (editops 2.8 sorry) 72B. Various tamperings in pp. Used some LED floodlighting and onboard flash in some. Sorry for the rubbish in the background. I have some other nice ones but with the DA35/2.4 so not eligible here.
