kacansas03, my primary buying place is eBay, prices grow but with Adaptall lens I remember the joy of bidding instead of buy it now. A few minutes ago I won 18F extension tube. Now I will wait for Tamron 90mm 72B appear with a good price. There is another 18F and 72B listed, but I don't like the price of buy it now the seller wants.
Oh Yeah, I like the bidding also. I also don't buy from some "seller" who seems to be in business to make money on Ebay with Buy-It-Now prices. I do like the items listed with a price but one can make an offer. I mostly look for individuals with say a couple hundred feedbacks that are 98% or higher. I used to sell on there but I feel like there are too many people just looking for an excuse to take advantage of the satisfaction guarantee to get the item and take the money from the seller. So now I just buy occasionally.

Adaptall info page

Perhaps you folks could have a look at this page I have posted. If you have any comments/observations I'd be happy to hear them (most specifically if you have info on using adaptalls with canon, nikon etc I am only specifically familiar with their use on Pentax and MFT)

Information page on Tamron adaptall, adaptall-2 system and lenses

I have acquired a nice little boxful of adaptalls now, including 01A, 19AH and I have written a few lens reviews.

I experience strange things with my Tamron 35-80 01A. 90% of images with focal length more than 35 from my K-30 in all modes are overexposed. The exposure floats from 0-2 steps so I need randomly set my exposure to -1 or -2 before every shot. What it could be?

Are you using a PK-A Adaptall-2 mount?? If so you need to follow the link on the post below yours in this forum and then read up on how it works. If I remember correctly the "fix" is quite easy to do. Something about cleaning contacts inside the mount which sounds hard but the procedure is quite easy. One of the many things I like about Tamron lenses is how well built but yet how easy it is to repair the lenses. Check it out.

Probably the aperture isn't being stopped down properly when you shoot. Check the lever on the PKA adapter, make sure everything is moving properly.

Tamron definetely knows how to make good glass. Why didnīt they carry on with the adaptall mount? To include proprietary electronics?

I doubt this is PK/A adapter because I have 2 adaptall lens and 2 PK/A adapters. They both do overexposure on my 01A and both works great on my 19AH.
Also, the higher F stop I use, the more overexposure I get.
The problem is in A mode only. And the funniest thing that it only appears at more than 35mm focal lenght. See picture attached.

The first thing that jumps into my eyes is that you you have a considerable amount of flare in your sample image. It is (also) my experience that the 01F is VERY sensible to stray light and while some remedy can be made by stretching levels (see example below) you must take great care of that fact.

Onother thing is that many of these vintage lenses do have a tendency towards overexposure when used on modern digital bodies. For many of my Adaptall-2 lenses, my remedy is to use -0.7 to -1.0 EV in exposure compensation.

But then you say that your problem gets worse at higher apertures. When you say "higher", do you mean "wider" (and not "higher" f-number)? That seems a bit strange to me. I usually find that smaller apertures = higher f-numbers may lead to more overexposure. Anyway, on the lens itself, does the diaphragm move fast and smoothly if you turn the aperture coupling lever to the smallest opening and the let it spring back to the widest?

EDIT: OK you answered the latter part yourself by your latest examples (don't know why they didn't pop up first time I read your thread).

Stone G. I mean higher F number, sorry for this misunderstanding. The diaphragm seems to moving ok, but I'm not a specialist. The only thing I noticed that in A mode it stops a bit wider than in M mode (attached to camera) at the same F-number.

UPD. Thanks.

Tamron Adaptall-2 Model 18F Extension Tube

I recently purchased this extension tube, which Tamron expressly states is for use with the the 90mm f/2.5 lenses exclusively:

Now, I don't own any 90mm f/2.5 lens, and I bought this tube with my 35-80 mm f/2.8-3.8 Model 01A in mind, being triggered by the outlook og having at least one extension tube with A* functionality. So what's this about "exclusively for....

I found out, when I received the 18F: As the Tamron Costom Mount telles us, there are two coupling keys that should match the slots on the lens aperture ring:

"Some mounts have two coupling
keys. If the custom mount you
own has two coupling keys, be
sure to engage the two keys into
matching slots on the lens aperture
ring."

And whereas the coupling keys on the P/K and P/KA custom mounts are free to move relative to each others, they are mounted on the same rotating ring on the 18F tube and will only match on a lens with a maximum aperture of f/2.5. My 01A lens has a maximum aperture setting of f/2.8 - not much of a difference, but it is there:

Well, nonetheless I am happy to report, that it still works as it should on my lens and together with the SP 01F 2X teleconverter I now have my desired "macro lens for Pentax-A":

giving me magnifications from about 1.2 : 1 at infinity setting:

(ruler back-lit by PC screen)

up to about 2.5 : 1 at closest focusing distance:

And I think the combo produces a pretty nice image quality too:
