I have a question for this group. I am looking for information on a Tamron SP 90 mm f 2.8 MF Macro. Model 72 B. I found a picture of it. I would like to purchase one but never see one for sale. It is not listed in the Forum Lens Data Base. Any information would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Pentax Bob

It is listed in the zoom section for some reason. Tough to find one in any case...

Hi Pentax Bob, I've this lens. It's lighter than the 52B(B) as it's made with mostly plastic. I think it's as sharp as the 52BB which I had and sold, but it can focus much closer (1:1 vs 1:2 on the 52BB). I got it from eBay a couple of years ago, so it does show up in awhile, just have to be patient. I believe it's the father of the current Tamron 90mm f2.8 macro lens and shares very similar lens configuration. Nice for portraits too.

Here are two photos I took recently with my Fujifilm X-M1.

This is probably not the proper place to ask this but since I'm almost running out of options I might as well give it a shot. I'm looking to buy a Tamron 70-210/4 (47A). If anyone got one laying around to sell I'd appreciate their message.

Thanks in advance.

Well, Google Translate is Google Translate, but here's some info from Tamron itself:

I have one but tI haven't been able to get the AF to work. Are you electronically minded enought to check connections/circuitry?

Yes rather infrequent on ebay - only 3 (auction) examples in my list, prices were pretty reasonable though £84-119

(ah so thats how you do multiple quotes! LSNED!)

It's there - it's just misplaced in the Adaptall Zoom category. The 72B is optically similar to the 52B/BB. You can access the 1:1 ratio with the 52's quite easily using an extension tube when necessary at much lower cost and better availability. IME, the 52's have been bullet proof while the 72 barrel is subject to occasional problems owing to the additional focusing action and the one I had also suffered from a sticky aperture ring.

I just saw an add at B&H Photo for a Tamron 90 mm f-2.8 MF adaptal lens model B-57 -100. It is new and comes with the typical 6 year warranty. How is this different than the old Model 72 B? Does it use the Tamron PKA adaptal 2 lens mount? It is a few hundred dollars less than the autofocus version.

Hey all, been lurking on this thread for quite some time. Time for me to add a few of my own, here and there. 300mm 60B. Yes the head is partially cut off, was sitting a lot closer then I thought I would been. Should of taken the 30A.

Question Answered

All,
B&H Photo has answered my question about the 90 MM macro model 72-B vs model B-57 -100. They are the same except for minor cosmetic differences. It uses the standard Adaptal 2 mount for Pentax. Now all I need to do is decide on purchasing the new one or wait for a used one to show up at a much lower price.
