02B's can be picked up very cheaply and I think its a good 28, as your pics demonstrate.

70-210m supertest update

I have added turret test images for the common 80-210mm adaptalls, and the 70-210mm 46A.
All three showed similar resolution on these shots.

I was in Grand Teton National Park a few weeks ago and had opportunity to use my Adaptall-2 70-150/3.5 (20A) on the freshly dusted Tetons.

Etched Horizon

Pentax K-3, Tamron 70-150/3.5 (20A)

I seldom shoot longer than 70mm, but there is a reason why this lens is always in the bag. (Click through and then click on image again to view large.)

I did a monochrome version, but did not spend much time with it. Without the warmer tones of the center ridge the scene goes sort of two-dimensional. What struck me is the amount of detail visible on a 100% crop with the K-3 despite the 20A being fairly inexpensive new.* I suppose I could post a crop, eh?

Steve

* I think I paid about $180 new in fall of 1982

I have a 20A in my collection, acquired very cheaply - ~$20 equiv. I must admit it hasn't particularly impressed me. But I guess the focal range is much easier to design for good IQ? I should do a set of test pics of the castle and compare it to the other lenses on my test page.

Here is a full-resolution (Pentax K-3) crop from the center of a different photo from the same location (less snow falling) also taken with the 20A:

Not a scientific test, but not bad for a landscape capture of features about three miles distant from the camera. (I think the focal length was at or near 150mm at f/5.6 or f/8.)

Adaptall Ricoh XR-P mount

I recently saw an XRP mount and it looked something like the P/KA mount. Does anyone know if it operates in the same manner as a P/KA mount in giving an aperture setting to the camera body?

yes..... on a 35mm film Ricoh camera! No these would only work as a PKM mount on pentax. Warning: these ricoh mounts have the dreaded ricoh pin, liable to catch in the AF porthole on pentax dslr.

Thank You a lot marcusBMG. This reply is exactly how this forum works So Much Better than the forums I have seen for Canon however a Nikon one seems to be slowly growing that is similar. You reply is greatly appreciated!

35-210 f/3.5-4.2 26A

Has anyone in this club tested this lens.??????????? From what i can find it seems to be not as good as what the sellers on Ebay want a person to think. I am a bit interested in it due to it's focal length range. Anyone who has one or has tested it please let me know what you think. one thing that bothered me was it's weight just for starters.

I had the opportunity to shot with one back in the film days - say late '80's - and wasn't impressed with it at the time. Too heavy and 'complex' for us folks attuned to using small primes on Spotties and K1000's.

As an Adaptall fan I'd pick one up at a good price today simply out of habit and to again have a hands-on experience with it but I've no doubt that a good DA 18-135 or DA 55-300 would fill its place in the bag today depending on the day's expectations. I find it hard to love a lens that covers so great a zoom ratio as anything other than a single-lens convenience.

And it seemed HEAVY for its size even then - lots of glass to correct that 6x zoom ratio - I'd compare it to a compact 70-200/2.8 today as I recall it now .
