Fiddling with digital for the first time in quite a while. Dug my 103A for the occasion, as it covers the focal length that was going to be necessary for the photo I wanted.

nice ! ...103a, hey ? ... i am pretty sure my 19ah is sharper when i use a tri-pod ... but i am not so sure when i am hand-wobble-holding the 103a ... and at least for 5 x 7 i get better pics than the reviews mostly indicate. colors are good, and i ignore any teensy fringing i have to pixel peep to see . . bottom line i think they are a heck of a lens for the $9.65 going price nowadays. while i am at it, i confess i occasionally use my 03a also ... doesn't seem to be very blurry ( g ) . i do use those floppy rubber hoods on everything.

I recently added the 1.4X (140F) BBAR flat field converter to my 65B 400/4. Now I have a bird lens. The IQ with the converter is the same as without. Tamron did a fine job matching optics.

The Adaptall-2 55BB 500mm f/8 mirror lens can deliver the goods, especially at distances under 100 feet. I set the shake reduction on my K3 for 450MM, I find it is over compensating when set for 500 with this lens. Monopod used.

What's your choice of SP?

A: SP 28A 28-135mm @ ~ 35mm, close focus mode.

B: SP 19AH 70-210mm @ 70mm.

And for further comparison thre is the same subject with a sigma superwide II in the sigma lens thread.

Nice set of photos. What camera body were you using with the 65B and 2X?

Thanks. I used a K-3 II w/battery grip. The 2 swan photos I was sitting on the ground with my knees drawn up so I could brace my arms on them. The other shots I used a monopod.

Late afternoon and a pair of black capped chickadees was visiting the feeder fifteen feet from my back porch chair. Taken with a bargain grade (EX anywhere else!) Tamron 19AH Adaptall-2 70-210 f/3.5 CF zoom I just received. $62. The lens is quite amazing for late 1980's technology. Sharp corner to corner and focusing at all focal lengths to under three feet. The only issues? It is hard to nail focus and pronounced lateral CA at 180-210mm. Close-up performance is amazing. I can't wait to try it on flowers and insects this spring and summer. 100% crops. My K5iis is the camera.

... really nice ! ... i am guessing this 70-210 was the 19AH, not the 52A ... guessing from the price ( g ) . i have a couple 19ah and a 52a ... and they all are pretty good ... sometimes i think i favor the 19ah because of the reviews ... ( g ) ... but i will do some more testing if spring ever gets here ... flowers, bees and birds ... here i come ...

edom31 ... that is pretty good contrast ... did you pop the contrast in PS ? ... i fear i would fail my master critic's license test, as i keep enjoying all of my tamron lenses ... even my QZ35M, which i can't quite figure out ( g ) ...

Tamron Adaptall 300/2.8 360B + Pentax F 1.7x AFA

For the mourning dove I used AF, but the other shots I used MF because the 1.7x AFA does not like low-contrast subjects and the DOF was excruciatingly narrow for the coot.

My KP & 50mm 55BB captured an unusual visitor to west-central Pennsylvania farm country, a seagull. Typical of my home county, the skies were heavy overcast, the conditions nearly 220 days per year.
