I've seen and been around bears long enough to keep my composure when one appears, but it
is a bit disconcerting to turn around and see one so close. He could have been sitting there for 5 minutes for all I know.

but guess what i usually walk around with : a 40a ( 35-135 ) and a set of extensions. i use the extensions instead of the macro button on the lens. BTW, that sliding macro button is interesting .. it isn't just on or off .. it can change the close focal distance just a little also ... neat.

Yeah, I'm mostly the same way... I think of sensible kits to take in specific situations, and then take something else
I could do a walk-around with the 24-48 13A and 19AH and be pretty well set.
