Nikkor LBA - Nikkor 105 f2.5 AI

The mount that I used for the conversion for this lens, makes the exif data thinks that it is an A series lens at F2.0. So it always says that.

Here's a shot with it from last weekend's "Woofstock"

Still need a human for a better portrait test.....

I don't know -- there's some pretty serious purple fringing around the edges of that dog.

amazing!
I never would've thought of using a Nikkor lens. Never even thought they would mount...what rock have I been under?
We definately need a thread listing lenses that will mount right onto Pentax and those that need adjusting rings....for dummies like me LOL

these are great, guys!

These older P style lenses are heavy duty! That 200 is massive! The newer Nikon bodies can't even use these older lenses without a conversion, so some of these really well built lenses are still in good working order and can be had for fairly cheap!
I did a comparison shot to show size... from left to right:
Vivitar Series 1 70-210 F2.8-4 (ver3, sorta for sale but not trying very hard )
Nikkon 20cm F4
Vivitar 200mm F3.5 (Komine)
Vivitar 200mm F3.5 (Tokina)

That Nikkor is pretty long, isn't it? It's on eBay now if anyone's interested. Must feed the K-7 fund...

hey guys I have encountered a Nikkor-P 105mm f/2.5 and I'm considering bringing it over to Pentax K mount. I have converted lenses before, is there anything I need to be aware of?

Hey Guys, how do you convert them?. (excuse my ignorance)

I recently sold a 85mm Nikkor-P f/2.5 for around $200 Au. It was one of the most asthetically pleasing lenses I have ever seen. I thought I couldn't use it so I sold it.

I can post pictures of the lens if you interested.

I'm sure there are dozens of techniques. For the AI and AIS lenses, I use the "grind down the Nikon mount and attach a Pentax mount" method, but some of the older lenses are a bit easier.

If I find a lens that I like, I will permanently convert it.

I am currently looking for a Nikkor 85-H 1.8 lens.

For the AI and AIS lenses, I remove the Nikon mount and grind it down, then attach a spare Pentax mount, I epoxy the two together and drill holes in the Pentax mount so the whole thing can be removed if needed.

This is the Nikkor 24 after I ground the Nikkor mount down to "accept" the Pentax mount:

This is it afterwards, with the K-mount from an old Hanimex lens from a pawn shop:

If only I knew this two months ago. I'll try and get some photos and post them here.

Will this also work for old Canon lenses?

Canon has a shorter registration distance from rear element to sensor, so Canon lenses wont focus very well, I'm not sure how far out you can focus from minimum, but infinity is out of the question.

But you can convert Contax Zeiss (C/Y mount), Nikkor, Olympus, Leica R. and I forget what else, that's all I shop for...

Micro-NIKKOR 55mm

This is the lens that I use for macro. It is superb. I have thought about buying a Tamron 90 Adaptall or similar but then I bought a cheep adapter from e-bay and now my Nikkor fits my K100D. The adapter came with elements that enabled the lens to focus from about 10" to infinity. These glass elements look uncoated and did introduce flare so I removed them. The lens now focuses from about 2" to about 2' which is fine for the macro work that I do and infact functions like a 12mm extension tube.

Here is a picture of the lens plus the adapter...

and here a recent picture taken using the lens....

I am just amazed to see other pentaxians using "Dirty" glass..... I was almost too ashamed to admit what I was doing!!

Hey there, guys. Could one of you tell me if this lens will "fit" on a Pentax body?

Yes, the non-Ai Nikkors 'fit' better than Ai ones - they lack the aperture sensing ridge on the mount.
