Bellows, on a K100D. The 1c doesn't mention Zeiss so it is after WW1 started, so I'm thinking this is from the 1920s. I pull it out every now and then.

Very nice colors. What about a shot of the lens (lensporn)?

Have anyone converted a lens for the Agfa Sillette? I have a Agfa Color-Telinear 1:4/90 on its way. It is even hard to find info on the registration distance, but I think it is somewhere around 44-45mm, so it is likely to take surgery to get it mounted on a Pentax DSLR.
That would make the difference about a millimeter or maybe 1.5 mm so have you thought about adjusting the focusing helicoid?? One usually has to take finish rings off in front of the front element to loosen the screws but it might be worth trying to do before surgery on the lens. I have no idea how that lens is constructed but thought I might mention this method. Good Luck!

I kind of included that possibility in "surgery". If someone opens me up, it is surgery and I would have to open this lens up. But if there is a reversible option, I always take that. But I need to see the lens first to get a better idea. I never actually seen one of these Agfa bayonet lenses in real life. So I don't know how easy/hard they are to open in either end. Looks like the aperture ring is sitting right in the front.

Here is the sellers pictures:

OH! That is built just like my Meyer Gorlitz Telemegor 400mm with the aperture forward. On that one it is maybe an inch back from the forward element but there is nothing in between plus focusing moves the barrel in and out a little bit. Almost no closer focusing is available on the 400, just long range on out. Great birding lens, very little flare with built in hood and I have used it with setting sun in frame with good results. I just wanted a silhouette of the eagle with fish in claws. Then it dropped the fish! I like the lenses with the aperture in front. Although since the switch from Canon MF film I have sold 2 of the 3 leaving just the Meyer. Wait I think I still have a 28mm built like that, not sure though. Too much stuff laying around.

I also posted this in the NEX thread, but I figured you guys would know what would be involved in getting this working...

Have any of you guys looked at the Kowa 55/1.1(maybe 1.0)? I wonder what's involved in getting it setup with a focus ring and aperture controls. The first 2 links have them without, but they cost < $100. The third is a finished product for $400. If I could shoot it wide open it would be worth $90, I wouldn't need to stop down. (obviously need to focus though).

Canon FD 200mm f4 on a K5 with working aperture.

Yesterday I bought this fine 200mm Canon FD and decided to try and mount it using a modified bellows on my K5.
It worked but was very heavy and cumbersome so I made an adapter that lets me mount any FD lens directly onto my K5. Well. Almost directly.
The adapter itselves uses some 12mm so Infinity is no way near possible.
But that didnt bother me to much since I was planning to use it for things like flowers and bugs.

As it is now it lets me focus to something like 3.5meters. Plenty enough for its purpose.
Closest is about 75cm or so. About Macro range 1:3

The nice thing is that it works exactly like any old Pentax K or M meaning I can use the green button and the lens will stop down on shutter release.
Perfect for semi macro and works great with my flash too.
Using additional macro tubes will allow me to get a lot closer but still having a good 40-50 cm from the lens to the subject.
Sharpness of that lens is amazing. Even sharp wide open so it could be used with AV at 4 and still produce nice shots

I think a converter like this could be made a lot thinner.
Seems to be about 5mm to thick for the mechanics it has now.

Has anyone built anything like this?

Some shots of the thing + from it.

Wide open full frame. This has a little bit of sharpening from LR but not much. Also a little bit boosted shadows.

100% crop at f4

This one also at f4 and 100% crop with no added sharpening at all.

This version of the Kowa lens has a focus flange, and I am not quite sure; but maybe a very tiny bit of thread at the end. It says it's 60mm in diameter. Any idea how you'd mount something like this? To M42, K, e-mount whatever.

Hi, Ken
First do the "bookend" test with a mm scale rule, focus thru a window onto a distant tree etc to see if it has at least 46mm of register for a PK mount or 20mm for a M4/3

Thanks that would help. I don't own the lens yet though. I would buy it if you guys think that it would be feasible to do without being a machinist, and not too expensive. I have seen the lens converted to E-mount and the seller claims to M4/3 and Canon EOS. So I am not sure it will work for Pentax, but it should work for my NEX. Best case i could make it work for Pentax and use it on both.

Here is a picture of a completed conversion for the NEX. It looks like he somehow created or found a focus ring with blades and aperture controls. Where would he find that? Was it completely fabricated? I'm thinking he used the cheaper version of the Kowa which did not have a focus flange, and had a long machineable thread.

Fotosnaiper 12 - adapting a Tair 3-S 300/4.5

Bonjour,

I am looking for help or advice because I just found a "Fotosnaiper" ensemble dirt cheap at my French thrift store ... and I'd like to adapt/modify to my K-5 if possible ... I have a M-42 adapter and was thinking of using my remote as a "trigger" mechanism. I have posted in the Soviet lens thread, but I was hoping that maybe someone here could give me some input. Below are images of the ensemble.

Merci d'avance, John le Frog

Minolta MC Rokkor - PF 58mm 1.4

Finall ordered a few rubber lens hoods from China and got a 55mm one to fit this lens.

The hood makes a huge difference in contrast and overall picture quality. I am basically never using a lens without a hood again.

When I got this lens it had a bunch of grit inside of it... when I was cleaning it, I discovered that the coating on the inside of the lens is very fragile and now has a bunch or fine scratches from cleaning it. It doesn't seem to afffect the picture quality though so I gues sI am not too concerned about it.

These were taken at ISO 100 with aperture of 1.4 on my K10D

Merci & thanks ... I have shot with the lens alone and it works quite well with the M42 adapter ... and kind of decided not to pursue the "pistol grip" type installation ... not worth the effort IMHO. Salut, John
