The easier way to do all of this, of course, is to get one of the Sony cameras and an adapter, allowing you to fit any Canon-FD or FL on the camera . . . but I shoot Pentax, and look forward to using these two lens on Pentax FF when it becomes available later this year.
A recent Panasonic GX-7 acquisition may make it a moot point. The 2x crop of a M4/3 means a 170mm-like field of view and f/1.8 A far cry from the 42mm (84mm-like) f/5.6 I have as the longest lens right now.

Thanks for all the info.

Vivitar 28mm f/2.5 to K Mount

IN this case I used an old Pentax SMC 50MM F/2 , Put the aperture and lens inside of it so as to achieve the right registration distance , It is still in the rough stages but I pulled it off

I keep looking at the dead Kitstar Zoom I have here and wondering if I could make some crazy Ultron style Concave Front Element Prime with it... I'm already burried under projects, stop tempting me.

I'm wondering if it would be likely that I could buy a cheap tokina mount lens and swap the mount with my OM 90mm ATX macro? Has anyone converted a Tokina ATX to PK without glass or extension tubes? I've tried the fotodiox glass converter and it really was bad.

I didn't do what you tried. I did something similar though : i swap mount from à Vivitar S1 70-210/3,5 from OM mount to K mount.

It's Easy to change mount : you just have to use thin spacer to adapt the flange distance.

The hard part is to be able to "make an aperture lever" usable.

I would suggest you to try to find à K mount version, instead of swapping mount. Unless you have à very good skill set and tools to do the work.

Pentax and Canon partnership -- Impossible?

Couple of shots from last night's northern Ohio snowstorm using Canon-FL 55mm f/1.2 permanently converted to K-mount, not really impossible when dcshooter is on your side!
KIT: K-3 with Canon-FL 55 f/1.2 taken at 1/320/ f/18, and ASA 400.

It's been a long time since anyone's posted anything here, so I figured I'd show off one of my new creations:

Without further ado, any Tokyo Kogaku UV-Topcor lens on K-mount:

In this case, I have the UV-Topcor 100mm f/4 mounted on my K-1:

For those not familiar with the UV-Topcor range of lenses, they used a special mount created for the Topcon 100, Wink, and Unirex cameras. At hte time, these were considered a more affordable alternative to bodies featuring the more familiar RE topcon lens system. To save costs, the UV lenses do not have aperture rings of their own but rather take advantage of a common ring permanently attached to the camera body.

The registration distance of UV Topcor lenses is 9.5mm greater than Pentax K lenses. however, in order to use them on a K camera, one has to cannibalize the aperture mechanism form a Topcon body and attach it to a K mount.

Measuring the thickness of both, I found tha tI had to make up about a millimeter of distance in order to attach the two while maintianing infinity focus. I did this by machining a thin ring of aluminum which I sandwiched between the two mounts:

This is attached from either sides using the original screw holes on each mount, 5 for the Pentax and 4 for the Topcon.

The trick was getting an inner diameter wide enough to accommodate the optics on the Topcor lenses while leaving enoug hroom for the 4 mount screw holes. Here you caa see the screw holes (I rubbed off some of the Aluminum blacking in order to get a better view. I found that applying the blacking to the exposed surface of the union disc substantially improved the performance of these lenses on my Pentax digital cameras:

Here's a shot of the finished adapter:

According to Camera-wiki.com, the following UV Topcon lenses were made, all of which should fit with this adapter:
  • UV Topcor 28mm f/4
  • UV Topcor 35mm f/3.5
  • UV Topcor 50mm f/2 [1]
  • UV Topcor 50mm f/2 (Hi Topcor) [2]
  • UV Topcor 50mm f/2.8 [3]
  • UV Topcor 53mm f/2 [4]
  • UV Topcor 55mm f/1.8 (Hi Topcor) [5]
  • UV Topcor 100mm f/4
  • UV Topcor 135mm f/4
  • UV Topcor 200mm f/4
So far, I have the 100mm as well as the 50mm f/2 and the 53mm f/2. All three perform quite well, with the 53mm slightly edging out the 50. This is unsurprising, considering that Topcon lenses are considered some of the best produced in Japan in the manual era. Having CLAed a couple of them, I can say that they are the only Japanese lenses I consider to be equal in build quality to the best Pentaxes, and well ahead of Canons, Nikons, Olympuses, and Minoltas.

Here's are a couple of example photos using the 100 on my K-1:

Nice job, I take it you own a Lathe

Yep, a mini mill too. I've been eyeing a 4th/5th axis rotary table which will let me really do the kind of lens mods I want to.

I have an extra UV mount Topcon body lying around. If you want the mount to construct your own adapter, drop me a PM, and I'd be happy to send it to you. You'd need to find some lenses to use it with, though!
you know I used to work in a machine shop. but this borderlines on tool and dye .WELL almost

Pentacon 6

Anyone know what the Pentacon 6 mount was? I thought it was for a 60x60 medium format camera. If that is wrong what eastern Bloc camera was medium format?

C/Y -M42 to PK

I use Leitax for my Contax lenses on my Pentax camera.
Leitax doesn't offer a conversion yet for the wide mount Contax lenses, like the Contax 100-300. Technically, Leitax confirmed me it can be done.

87.Contax*100-300*4.5-5.6*MM???PK_??UU

On this Chinese site I saw a conversion from C/Y using M42 to PK mount. Do you think this can be done using a standard M42 adapter and separate Leitax/pk mount together?

Great to hear your input.

Here's one I had started a mod on a while back and only recently finished. Working on the mount was a major pain, requiring a good amount of machining.

X-posted to the Gear Porn thread.

Not quite as well known as it's 58mm sibling, but to my eye, sharper with a more modern rendering.

Requisite Kitty picture to show performance:

100% crop:
Nice job, very well done . Oh and it is extremely sharp for sure.
