The author of the descriptions at adaptall-2.com is the only one I know of. He did briefly compare the two. His conclusion, as I recall, was that they were both excellent and it didn't really matter which one you had.

I tried both a YouTube and Google search on those two terms together and I didn't get anything.

Well ... maybe i'll be the one who'll compare them then. I really like my tamron 50b but if there could be something better - I want it

When I was doing the search yesterday, I ran across a post that summed it up pretty well, and this guy was referring to what had been written about the two lenses at adaptall-2.com. He mentioned that the optical redesign that resulted in the 55BB was done to eliminate some types of distortion with close-in focusing, perhaps there being a slight expense with distance resolution. Thus the conclusion was that the 55B might have a slight edge for distance work, whereas the 55BB will likely have an edge with close-in work. I own the 55BB and I've seen lots of photos taken with the 55B and I can't tell any difference between the two. Well, I guess if I were pixel peeping I might see a slight difference, but I try not to do that. I mean, if you're looking at a pair of 8x10s taken with the two lenses, you're not gonna be able to tell a difference once you're 3 feet away from them.

Hi.
Sharing couple from today's experiment: K-x + Pentax 1.7x + unnamed 300/f5.6 mirror, handheld.
The parakeet was in the shade with a bit of sunlight streaming onto it.
Crop, Resize, minor level and unsharp done.

I expected the 1.7x TC to provide some AF, but was disappointed it did not...

The focussing is tough... needs to be be done slow and precise.
Had to rely on aging eyes and the bleep when in focus.

And for some reason, all modes were behaving similarly on the K-x with this combo...
The ISO was changing as per lighting... could not change the shutter speed!

All suggestions and comments welcome

the sun came out for a minute and three white throated sparrows came for a drink
so I grabbed my k2000 and tamron 55b
I had forgotten how vibrant this old camera makes images

I still hate manual focusing but the shot isn't too bad

They are a bear to focus. Looks like you caught the front of the rock the bird is sitting on. I should go practice with mine. That's the only way to get good at it.

particularly optically. I recommend a VF magnifier. In any case I tend to get better focussed results on my mirrorless cameras.

Bad pun

Shooting mirrorless precludes membership in this club.
Sorry, couldn't resist.

Does anyone have or know where one is of this lens.
I have one but the part that couples to the camera appears to be missing.
There is a recess with three set screwsthat I believe receives something like a T-mount adapter. My understanding is that Sigma had a lens adapter system which was proprietary.
I would be looking for a photo or two of the adapter and a few measurements. Not necessarily Pentax as I will be using the lens with a Sony E mount that I have adapters for several systems.
If this Sigma mount is familiar to you and you have another lens that uses it the info would be just as welcome.
Thanks in advance

I have this lens from back in the day. Contact me if you still need info.

About the closest I've gotten a bird to being in focus: (Tamron 55BB on K-S1)
